🚩🚩 2. Deputy Commander-in-Chief of KNDF, Maw Ree, Declares Dictatorship Must End for Peace to Prevail

May 31
Radio NUG

At the commemoration of KNDF’s fourth anniversary, Deputy Commander-in-Chief Maw Ree emphasized that as long as military dictatorship endures, the people of Myanmar will never be able to live in peace. He pledged that the revolution would continue with unwavering resolve.

Maw Ree stated:

“As long as military dictatorships persist, neither we nor the people will ever be able to live peacefully or with dignity. This is a reality we must hold close to our hearts and keep firmly in our minds. That is why I urge all of us to carry on the fight with relentless determination. I offer my full support to this effort.”

He paid tribute to all comrades—brothers and sisters—who have marched together for four long years, enduring hardship, pain, and deprivation. He expressed his deep respect for their resilience and recognized the essential role of the public in supporting the KNDF through relentless bombings, airstrikes, and heavy artillery attacks.

He added that none of the achievements of the past four years would have been possible without the unwavering support of the people, extending special gratitude to them on the occasion of KNDF’s anniversary.

Maw Ree concluded with a message of hope for the future:

“In the not-so-distant future, I believe we will be reunited in a new nation and a renewed society—not with guns in our hands, but with flowers.”

🚩🚩 3. After Capture of Strategic Bases, Junta Abandons 5 Outposts Within Three Days

May 31
Radio NUG

Following the capture of several key strategic military bases by joint forces of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and allied units within the jurisdiction of KNU/KNLA Brigade 6, the military junta abandoned five outposts within a span of three days.

The junta’s bases at Htee Kaw Pler, Maw Kee, Shwe Aye Myaing, Htoekyo (Bohnyaw), and Thaw Thee Thee were reportedly vacated due to fear and the isolation of these posts from key strategic support zones.

After the capture of the Kanelay strategic base on the evening of May 28, around 30 junta troops stationed at Maw Kee retreated to the Ukrit base. Similarly, 27 troops from the Htoekyo base were believed to have withdrawn to the Waw Lay strategic base.

Although the junta forces managed to evacuate with their weapons and ammunition, they failed to reassert control over the region. This was deemed a significant victory by the resistance forces.

🚩🚩 4. Battalion Headquarters No. (33) Attacked with 107mm Short-Range Rockets

May 31
Radio NUG

The Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM) announced that the military junta’s Light Infantry Division Headquarters No. (33), based in Sagaing Township, Sagaing Region, was attacked with three 107mm short-range rockets.

The attack reportedly took place at 2:20 p.m. on May 31, under the leadership of BWM, in coordination with Shadow (Sagaing), No More Dictatorship (NMD), and Infinity (urban guerrilla group in Sagaing). The joint forces launched rockets into the compound of the LID 33 headquarters.

The Division 33 is infamous for committing brutal atrocities against civilians throughout the Spring Revolution and is regarded as one of the junta’s most ruthless combat units. It is currently reported to be conducting offensives in Sagaing Township, led by its deputy commander, involving arrests, torture, and military operations against local civilians.

Moreover, intelligence indicated that a senior military leader of the junta was expected to visit the Division 33 compound, prompting the resistance forces to launch “BWM Mission 40” with the objective of ensuring that “there is no place left for military leaders to run or feel safe.”

All three rockets reportedly landed inside the LID 33 compound and exploded successfully. Initial reports indicate that the strike caused casualties or damage, although the identity of the visiting junta official and the extent of injuries are still under investigation.

🚩🚩 5. Arakan Army Captures Junta’s Regional Commander and Lieutenant Colonel in Kyaukphyu Battle

May 31
Radio NUG

Fierce clashes continue in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State, where the Arakan Army (AA) reportedly captured a regional commander (Grade 1 - G1) and a Lieutenant Colonel from the military council, along with numerous junta troops and a cache of weapons and ammunition, according to military sources.

The incident took place at 3 p.m. on May 30 near Min Ta Tet Mountain Village in Kyaukphyu Township. During the battle, AA forces reportedly captured the regional military commander, Lt. Col. Kyaw Lin Kyine, and at least 30 junta troops.

Previously, on March 27, during the assault and seizure of Saw Nan Hpae Mountain Base, an outpost under Police Battalion 32, Brigadier General Kyaw Myo Aung, a tactical commander from Light Infantry Division 11 headquarters, was killed by sniper fire, resulting in significant junta casualties.

Kyaukphyu Township hosts multiple Chinese-backed infrastructure projects, including a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), deep-sea port, and oil pipelines. Current clashes are occurring just over 6,000 meters from these projects. The AA has pledged not to harm these foreign investments.

Despite the fighting, the junta still maintains strongholds in Kyaukphyu Township, including the Dhanyawaddy Naval Base Headquarters, Oakkyin Naval Base, Infantry Battalion 34, Light Infantry Battalions 542 and 543, Police Battalion 32, and other camps and checkpoints.

The Arakan Army reiterated its “Raise the White Flag and Surrender” policy, urging junta troops to surrender early to ensure survival and reunification with their families.

The AA has stated that it welcomes defectors with arms, provides financial rewards, and ensures safe transfer to their families. Since the start of the urban offensive campaigns, the AA has reportedly captured thousands of junta troops, including at least four Brigadier General–level officers.

🚩🚩 6. Central Committee Member of Yadanabon Revolutionary Force Killed in Battle

May 31
Radio NUG

On May 28, during a joint offensive against junta forces, Revolutionary Comrade Khun Sai (aka Bo Daung), a Central Committee member of the Yadanabon Revolutionary Force, was killed in action.

He died while fighting for the liberation of oppressed people. On May 31, a funeral ceremony was held in his honor by fellow comrades, Buddhist monks, and members of the public, who paid tribute and expressed their sorrow.

The ceremony included tributes of honor to Comrade Khun Sai, readings of condolence messages from various allied revolutionary groups, and floral offerings from members of the public.

Despite being only 23 years old, Comrade Khun Sai bore responsibilities far beyond his years. He led anti-junta protests during the early days of the revolution and later took up arms, serving as a Central Committee member and battalion commander in the Yadanabon Revolutionary Force.

The Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) stated in its fourth-anniversary declaration that it is firmly committed to achieving the objectives of the armed resistance movement as swiftly as possible—namely, the dismantling of the military dictatorship and the establishment of a federal democratic union—by advancing hand in hand with public mobilization efforts and international pressure campaigns.

The statement reaffirms that from the outset of its four-year revolutionary journey, KNDF has been striving, with the support of the people, to bring an end to military dictatorship and to build a federal democratic union. However, KNDF expressed heartfelt apologies to the public and revolutionary comrades, stating that it feels responsible and deeply remorseful that, even after four years, the revolutionary struggle continues to be prolonged.

KNDF also affirmed its strong commitment to uphold and further advance democratic laws and principles—not only within military operations but also across administrative sectors—towards the goal of a peaceful and progressive federal democratic union. It emphasized to the people that it places utmost value on operating under democratic norms and will work to strengthen these efforts moving forward.

In the statement, KNDF expressed its deep gratitude to all who supported them throughout the past four years—the public who stood in solidarity, allies who extended their cooperation, and the leaders who provided guidance and direction. πŸ“ŒπŸ“Œ 5. Flooding in Chipwe and Putao, Kachin State, as Heavy Rainfall Causes Rivers to Overflow and Forces Evacuations

May 31
Radio NUG

In Kachin State, the towns of Chipwe and Putao have been experiencing unrelenting heavy rainfall for over a week, resulting in significant rises in the water levels of the Mekha and Malikha Rivers. According to local sources, many residential areas have been submerged, and hundreds of residents have been forced to flee their homes.

The current water level reportedly exceeds that of last year, inundating nearly all homes near the riverbanks, particularly those close to the river port. These residents have already been relocated, and low-lying areas are also under rising water, prompting further evacuations.

In addition, the rising Malikha River has reportedly engulfed some homes and school buildings in Ridam Village, located in Hkawnglangphu Township, Putao District.

The Ayeyarwady River, which is formed by the confluence of the Mekha and Malikha Rivers, also continues to rise. In Myitkyina, flood warning alerts have been issued, according to reports.

An intensifying tropical depression formed in the Bay of Bengal on May 29, bringing with it the threat of heavy rainfall, flash floods, and landslides in Kachin State, Chin State, Rakhine State, Sagaing Region, and Magway Region. The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management (MOHADM) under the NUG has issued a public alert warning residents in these areas to remain vigilant.
