๐ฉ๐ฉ 1. ULA/AA's Efforts to Eliminate Landmine and Explosive Remnant Hazards in Arakan Region
January 18
Radio NUG
ULA/AA has been working to eliminate landmine and explosive remnant hazards in 15 townships, including Paletwa, Ponnagyun, Minbya, Mrauk-U, Kyauktaw, Ramree, Myebon, Pauktaw, Rathedaung, Buthidaung, Maungdaw, Thandwe, Gwa, Toungup, and Ann. Since gaining control of these areas, ULA/AA has been organizing public awareness campaigns about the dangers of landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXOs). Recently, in areas previously occupied by the military junta, including towns and villages, warning signs about landmine risks have been erected to caution the public, according to a report by Arakan Princess Media.
The ULA/AA has advised residents to avoid former military bases, temporary camps, and conflict zones altogether. Civilians traveling by car, motorcycle, or on foot are urged to remain vigilant, as incidents of stepping on abandoned landmines or unexploded devices planted by the junta forces have led to numerous casualties, injuries, and amputations. This includes instances involving livestock grazing, firewood collection, and foraging.
In addition to erecting warning signs, ULA/AA has been conducting educational talks on landmine safety among the local population. Pamphlets containing mine awareness information are also being distributed. Furthermore, Arakan Army soldiers are reportedly clearing landmines and explosive remnants in these areas.

January 18,
Radio NUG
The PNLO (Pa-O National Liberation Organization) reported that intense fighting broke out in the eastern part of Sisaing Township, Southern Shan State, as the Military Council and allied PNO People’s Army launched an offensive with full force.
On January 17, over 500 troops from the Military Council and the PNO advanced in four columns, leading to prolonged battles near Pha Ngo, Naung Kyaw, and Phyi Kyu villages throughout the day.
