Radio NUG
Prime Minister Man Win Khine Than declared that “it is absolutely unacceptable for natural resources to be managed by individuals or specific groups” during the (5/2025) meeting of the Union-level Natural Resource Management Committee.
He stated, “At present, as we are in a revolutionary period and simultaneously nurturing and developing public-centered natural resource management practices that will support the future implementation of the Federal Natural Resource Policy, it is entirely unacceptable for natural resources to be managed by individuals or specific groups.”
He further emphasized that natural resources are national assets collectively owned by the people, and thus, when the country transitions into a federal democratic system, the public must be transparently informed of the activities conducted during the revolution period, including how the resources were used and expenditures incurred by the revolutionary government. These must be clearly reported and accompanied by accountability statements.
Attending the meeting were the Chairperson of the Union-level Natural Resource Management Committee, Prime Minister Man Win Khine Than; Vice Chairpersons and members, including Union Ministers from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment, and Ministry of Electricity and Energy. Also present were Union Deputy Ministers, Deputy Directors General, and responsible officials from the Office of the Prime Minister and the Secretariat Office of the Union-level Natural Resource Management Committee.

๐๐ 2. Min Aung Hlaing exploits Sagaing earthquake disaster with a tourism promotion scheme
May 9
Radio NUG
At a time when residents of the Sagaing Region are suffering the devastating consequences of the recent earthquake—with homes destroyed, lives lost, and livelihoods disrupted—the military regime led by coup leader Min Aung Hlaing not only failed to provide effective assistance to victims but went so far as to launch a shameless campaign to exploit the disaster for financial gain.
The junta's official announcement proposes inviting domestic and international tourists to the earthquake-stricken areas to "observe the damage" and to generate revenue through hotels and tourism businesses operating in those regions.
This approach is not only devoid of basic human compassion but also represents a cruel and exploitative attempt to capitalize on the grief and losses of local communities for economic benefit.
While displaced families, relatives of the deceased, and the injured are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, reconstruction support, and mental health care, the military regime is instead branding their suffering as a “tourism attraction” and promoting it as a commercial opportunity.

๐๐ 4. Warning Signboards Installed by the PSLF/TNLA Land and Forest Protection Department in Hsipaw and Nawnghkio Townships
May 9
Radio NUG
The PSLF/TNLA has reported that its Department of Land and Forest Protection has erected warning signboards in Hsipaw and Nawnghkio townships, located in Brigade 2 territory of Ta’ang Region.
According to the statement, the signboards were installed on May 6 in Hsipaw Township at the Hsipaw Kyoewine and Kwanlon Kyoewine areas, and on May 7 at the Got Htaik Bridge in Nawnghkio Township.
The warnings on the signboards prohibit activities such as logging and bamboo cutting, as well as setting forest fires. The signs clearly state that any violations will result in decisive action.
It was also noted that in April, a total of 52 similar warning signboards had already been installed in Kutkai and Namkham townships. Furthermore, in February, the PSLF/TNLA’s Department of Land and Forest Protection designated five restricted zones—referred to as Kyoewines—in the Moe Meik Township area within Brigade 3 territory.

๐๐ 5. Introduction of the “Gun 5 Hands” Campaign by Urban Operation Column
May 9
Radio NUG
To address a critical gap in the revolutionary struggle, the Urban Operation Column (UOC) has launched the “Gun 5 Hands” campaign and is inviting participation.
The Urban Operation Column is a military unit organized and trained to strategically execute urban and ground combat missions. Formerly known as South Side Ranger (SSRanger), the unit was previously involved in underground (UG) missions in Yangon, resistance battles in the southern region, smaller skirmishes, military operations in upper Myanmar, and the delivery of military training courses.
The campaign was launched due to a shortage of firearms and ammunition. As a result, the unit has been relying on allied forces to temporarily loan weapons during operations, while continuing to engage in rotations, defensive duties, and active combat. The success of this campaign is deemed essential under these circumstances.
The current UOC force is preparing to become a disciplined and capable fighting unit, with the aim of carrying out infiltration missions into ground combat zones. In parallel, the UOC continues to conduct junior officer training, demolition training, and urban warfare training for allied revolutionary units.
These reports were submitted by Radio NUG correspondents Tharki and Khur Shel.
