๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Military Airstrikes Drop Four 250-lb Bombs on Oum Matee Village in Naung Cho Township

May 23

The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) has reported that the Myanmar military launched an aerial bombing campaign on Oum Matee Village in Naung Cho Township, northern Shan State, which is currently under TNLA control.

According to TNLA,

On May 22 at 11:50 AM, the military conducted two bombing runs,

Followed by another two bombing runs at 11:53 AM,

Dropping a total of four 250-pound bombs on the village.

It was also noted that the bombings occurred in the absence of any active clashes, with the bombs dropped deliberately.

Additionally,

On May 21, the military used a drone to drop 15 conventional bombs and one chemical gas bomb on Oum Matee Village, injuring at least one civilian.

Similarly, on May 20, without any active hostilities, the military carried out a jet fighter strike using a 250-pound bomb on Hoko Village in Naung Cho Township, under the administration of PSLF/TNLA, resulting in the destruction of a civilian home.

Despite declaring a temporary ceasefire from May 6 to May 31, the military continues to launch ground offensives, artillery strikes, drone attacks, and daily aerial assaults on TNLA-administered territories. As a result, TNLA has urged civilians to maintain heightened security awareness and take precautions to avoid harm from airstrikes, drones, and heavy artillery shelling.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. TNLA Relocates Displaced Persons from Kyokham Monastery in Naung Cho Amid Military Targeting of Religious Sites

May 23

Due to repeated and deliberate attacks by the Myanmar military targeting religious sites, displaced civilians taking refuge at Kyokham Monastery in Naung Cho Township were relocated to safer locations, according to the TNLA.

The TNLA clarified that this relocation was part of its effort to protect internally displaced persons (IDPs) from potential harm amid ongoing hostilities. This comes as intensified clashes continue between TNLA and junta forces in villages like Oum Matee and Oum Makhar in Naung Cho Township.

Junta forces have reportedly

Burned homes and religious buildings,

Dropped bombs from the air,

And launched heavy artillery strikes in villages near Taung Kham and across Naung Cho in deliberate, daily attacks.

To safeguard civilians during the fighting, the TNLA had previously issued a formal notification and humanitarian appeal, requesting over 100 displaced persons sheltering at Kyokham Monastery to temporarily relocate to safer areas.

The relocation was carried out swiftly after the warning was issued to ensure their safety. The TNLA further explained that misleading reports suggesting the TNLA had forcibly relocated the IDPs were false and clarified that the move was conducted with the primary aim of protecting civilian lives during the conflict.

According to the PSLF/TNLA Information Department, these actions are part of the group's commitment to ensure the safety and protection of local civilian populations in active combat zones.

May 23

On May 23, the Magway Guerrilla Warfare group announced that it had carried out an operation to eliminate Ye Khaing, a notorious informant based in Gwaytauk Khone Village, Taungdwingyi Township, Magway Region.

Ye Khaing, who was reportedly working with junta-aligned police officers to file false legal cases against civilians over local disputes, was neutralized on May 20 at approximately 12:30 PM.

He was also accused of colluding with the junta-appointed administrator known as "Pyan Hlwa" to collect military conscription bribes. These actions prompted the operation, according to the resistance group’s announcement.

The operation was jointly conducted by the Magway Guerrilla Warfare unit and the Taungdwingyi Fighter Force-LPDF.

Gwaytauk Khone Village is located near the Parakyel Police Station and is said to be home to around seven Pyu Saw Htee militia trainees.

Local People's Defense Forces (PDFs) have warned these Pyu Saw Htee trainees to collaborate with the resistance movement operating in the region.

In addition, the Magway Guerrilla Warfare and Taungdwingyi Fighter Force-LPDF urged local junta-appointed administrators, military personnel, and administrative staff in Magway District to cooperate with the People's Defense Forces. They also issued a warning that individuals who remain aligned with the military regime and fail to take the side of the people will be targeted and eliminated.

The two resistance forces reaffirmed their commitment to continue joint operations with allied revolutionary forces until the military dictatorship is completely dismantled, and they urged civilians to avoid areas where junta troops are stationed for their own safety.

May 23

According to an official statement released on May 23 by Battalion 3801 under the Tharyarwaddy District command, two newly recruited soldiers and one soldier from Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 401 have defected from the military junta with weapons and ammunition in Pyinbong Village, Nattalin Township, Bago Region.

The two conscripts—Naing Way Lin from Yekyi Township and Yaza Min from Kyonpyaw Township in Ayeyarwady Region—were allegedly forcibly recruited under the junta’s military conscription law. They defected on May 19, bringing with them their weapons and ammunition.

They reportedly had been tasked with guard duties and logistical work inside their unit. However, after arriving in Pyinbong Village as part of a junta military column, they were ordered to torch civilian homes and detain residents. In protest, they deserted and surrendered to Battalion 3801 of the resistance.

The two defectors brought with them two MA-1 rifles, one hand grenade, one walkie-talkie, and six magazines of ammunition. They declared their intention to join the resistance movement to fight for the complete eradication of the military dictatorship and to achieve lasting peace.

Separately, a junta soldier from LIB 401 based in Dawei Township also defected with weapons and surrendered to the Launglon Township People's Defense Force (Pa Ka Pha) on May 11.

As a preliminary reward, the Launglon Township Pa Ka Pha provided this defector with 3 million MMK in support.

The Launglon Pa Ka Pha, in cooperation with local allied revolutionary forces, previously launched an assault on the Paungtine Bridge checkpoint in Dawei during this May and succeeded in capturing junta informants in San Hlan Village.
