๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. At least five junta soldiers killed in resistance attack on arson-led military column in Myaing Township

May 8

In Myaing Township, Magway Region, revolutionary forces launched an attack on a military column of over 200 junta troops who had been conducting clearance operations in the area. The resistance group M.V.P Revolution Force reported that at least five junta soldiers were killed in the clash.

According to the group, the military column had been present in several villages across Myaing Township since May 1, carrying out a campaign of arson and destruction.

The column remained stationed in the villages for seven days, destroying homes and property. It reportedly withdrew from Myaing early in the morning of May 7 and returned to the 101st Military Command Base in Pakokku around 8 p.m. that evening.

During their operations, the junta troops were stationed in villages such as Thitkyitaung, Laytan, and Paukpinkine, from where they launched assaults on surrounding communities. People's Defense Forces (PDFs) conducted near-daily attacks in response. Due to sustained casualties, the junta troops resorted to conducting airstrikes from May 2 to 6.

According to the MVP Revolution Force, junta soldiers set fire to six civilian homes in Thitkyitaung village and 33 more in Paukpinkine village.

When the junta troops retreated, resistance forces carried out clearance operations and reportedly discovered the buried bodies of junta soldiers and discarded military uniforms near Laytan village, as per the MVP Revolution Force.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. Ongoing Battles in Thain Khun Village, Tanintharyi for Over 5 Months: Around 150 Junta Forces, Including Officers, Killed

May 8

The battle in Thain Khun Village, located in Tanintharyi Township, has been ongoing for approximately five months and is still continuing, with around 150 junta troops—including officers—reported killed, according to a May 8 statement by Battalion 2 of Myeik District.

Over the past five months, more than 100 clashes have occurred in the area, resulting in roughly 150 casualties on the junta’s side, including officers. Skirmishes are still breaking out almost daily, and while there have been significant casualties among junta forces, allied People's Defense Forces (PDFs) have also sustained minor injuries, the battalion stated.

During the engagements, 12 junta soldiers reportedly defected to KNLA Battalion 11, bringing their weapons with them. Most of the defectors were previously deported from Thailand and had been forcibly conscripted as new recruits by the military regime.

Given the joint operations of PDF, KNLA, KTLA, and allied Pa Ka Pha forces against junta troops, Battalion 2 of Myeik District has urged local residents and travelers to exercise heightened caution while moving about in Tanintharyi Township.
