2. The Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Health of the National Unity Government (NUG), Professor Dr. Khin Maung Lwin, has called for the construction of safe hospitals able to maintain operations in conflict zones. The deputy minister stated that the healthcare workers on the ground have been providing medical treatment to revolutionary soldiers, even while facing constant aerial bombardment from the terrorist military junta. Amid such relentless attacks, their courage and commitment to caring for civilians and injured resistance members without regard for their own safety deserve the highest praise. He continued that this situation presents a new challenge. Due to the increasing risk of airstrikes during field operations, we are now exploring the idea of constructing underground hospitals. These facilities aim to ensure the safety of healthcare workers while enabling them to continue delivering vital medical services. This idea has progressed into the Safe Hospital, Safe Healthcare campaign. The campaign has set a fundraising target of USD 400,000 and will run from May 24 to June 30. More information is available on the Ministry of Health’s official Facebook page of the National Unity Government.
