The fighting reportedly occurred in parts of the Lone Khin village tract, including areas near Majayan, Sankha villages, and the jade mining zones of Kutkha.

On May 29, junta forces arriving in Hpakant attempted to pressure the KIA to withdraw from their positions and set fire to several jade mining operations.

While some residents fled Hpakant in response to the junta’s arrival, the majority remain in the town.

On June 3, junta troops fired heavy artillery at a Kyan Go jade storage warehouse belonging to Tin Aung Kyine Mining Company in Hmaw Si Sar village, causing a massive explosion that killed 3 people and seriously injured 10 others.

Additionally, on the night of June 6, the junta carried out a drone bombing on jade and fertilizer warehouses near Khon Sar Kone, in the Lone Khin area, resulting in another major explosion that killed 9 people, including 3 children.

At around 1:00 a.m. on June 9, the junta again used drones to bomb three jade transport trucks and a fuel bowser parked in Maw Lakin village, Nam Maw administrative tract, Sai Taung area, causing all vehicles to be destroyed by fire.

Locals report that the junta appears to be targeting storage areas for ammonium nitrate and fertilizer, materials commonly used in mining operations, prompting residents to clear out storage sites on their own initiative to avoid further attacks.

Given the current security situation, the KIA and KPDF have issued warnings advising residents not to go outdoors between 9:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. for their safety.
