๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. SAC Air Force Launches Another Bombing in Mogok, Injuring 6 Civilians Including 2 Children — TNLA Reports

According to a report released by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), a renewed airstrike by the junta's military in Mogok, located in Military Region 4 of Ta’ang territory, has injured six civilians, including two children.

The incident occurred last night around 10:30 p.m., when a jet fighter of the military junta dropped a 500-pound bomb near Panma Taik. The explosion injured two children, one woman, and three men, while six houses were also damaged due to the bomb’s impact.

Similarly, earlier that same morning, another airstrike was carried out in Kyaukme, during which four bombs were dropped, injuring one woman and damaging two homes as well as a dried fruit processing factory.

Between June 29 and the morning of July 13, the SAC conducted nine aerial bombardments:

  • 6 in Kyaukme,
  • 1 in Naungcho Township (at Thone Se Village),
  • 1 in Mogok, and
  • 1 in Hsipaw.

As a result of these attacks:

  • 7 civilians, including children, were killed,
  • 2 children and 34 other civilians were injured, and
  • 52 homes, 1 school, and 4 Buddhist monasteries were damaged or destroyed.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Multiple Junta Soldiers Defect to DPLA Amid Fighting in Naungcho Frontline

On July 14, it was officially confirmed that a significant number of junta soldiers stationed at Taung Kham on the Naungcho frontline have defected to the Democratic People's Liberation Army (DPLA).

Since June 24, there has been intense ongoing fighting between the DPLA, TNLA, and the junta forces in Naungcho Township and surrounding areas.

According to the DPLA,

“A large group of junta troops at the Taung Kham frontline in Naungcho, equipped with full arms and equipment, defected to the DPLA last June.”

It is also reported that many of the junta troops stationed on the Naungcho frontline had been previously subjected to forced conscription (Portar Swe).

Plans are underway to facilitate the safe return of the defected troops to their hometowns based on their own wishes.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Battalion Commander of LIB-104 Defects to the People, Rejecting Junta System

Lieutenant Colonel Zaw Zaw Aung, commander of a mobile unit under Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 104, operating around Laung Lone, Nat Ein Taung, and Amyaung Kone, has defected from the military junta to join the public, citing his inability to accept the junta’s current system and practices.

This was announced by the Karen National Union (KNU) Myeik–Dawei District Office on July 13.

Lt. Col. Zaw Zaw Aung (DSA intake 52) coordinated his defection through Major Myo Swe Oo @ Saw Moe Set, who had previously defected on July 2, and officially joined the KNLA Brigade 4, Battalion 10.

The KNLA’s Brigade 4 has welcomed his defection with appreciation and warmth, recognizing it as a courageous and honorable move.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. SAC Soldier Defects with Weapon During Deployment to Nat Yay Kan Base — Receives MMK 3 Million Reward

A 24-year-old junta soldier, who had been forcibly deployed from Thayet District, Magway Region to Nat Yay Kan Hill Guard Post near the Magway–Rakhine border, has defected with his weapon and was awarded a MMK 3 million reward, according to local reports.

The soldier, identified as Ko Maung (alias), was forcibly conscripted and sent to the SAC base at Nat Yay Kan, but escaped during his forward guard duty carrying:

  • 1 MA-1 assault rifle,
  • 3 magazines,
  • 100 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, and
  • 1 equipment belt.

He defected on June 25 by contacting the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) of Thayet District, Battalion 4.

According to the battalion, he was warmly welcomed, and was subsequently awarded a MMK 3 million cash reward in recognition of his defection and courage.
