On August 7 at 10:00 a.m., the National Unity Government (NUG) convened the 27th Meeting of the Central Committee for Interim Local Public Administration, chaired by Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann, who delivered opening remarks.

In his address, the Union Prime Minister stated:

“In recent days, the revolutionary situation has seen military victories alongside continuing challenges. Due to the junta’s heavy artillery and airstrikes, civilians—especially children—have been killed and injured. These civilian casualties are deeply saddening. Such atrocities, which continue unabated, are war crimes committed by the terrorist military group, and we must collectively strive to hold them effectively accountable.

Just within the past week, in a single township in Pindaya, about eight people drowned. This is a consequence of climate change and environmental degradation. The global scientific warning on the so-called resource curse is especially relevant for countries like Myanmar. This curse can cause severe harm to the nation and push the people into greater suffering.

In areas under NUG’s administration, it is essential to manage natural resources systematically to prevent the emergence of such a curse. While we continue striving for revolutionary success, it is equally vital to ensure that we can pass down a sustainable natural environment to future generations.”

Following the opening, Central Committee members reported on the progress of initiatives set during Meeting 26/2025, outlined ongoing tasks, and discussed remaining work to be carried out. Ministers and responsible officials from relevant ministries also presented and discussed their respective operations in detail.

The meeting was chaired by Union Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann and attended by Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, and departmental officials.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 6. Military council orders use of PSMS system for inspections at Taunggyi guesthouses and entry–exit gates

August 7
Radio NUG

The military council has issued an order that in Taunggyi, Southern Shan State, inspections will be carried out at hotels, motels, guesthouses, vehicle checkpoints, city entry and exit points, and military gates using the People Surveillance and Management System (PSMS).

According to the General Administration Department of Taunggyi Township, this directive—dated August 4—states that the purpose is to prevent the entry of People’s Defense Force (PDF) members, military defectors, police defectors, and other military service evaders coming from other townships. It orders the use of PSMS technology to identify and arrest such individuals.

Hotels and guesthouses are instructed to systematically send the personal information of all guests to the authorities. Similarly, vehicle checkpoints and bus lines must conduct accurate inspections of passengers, thoroughly verify their personal details, and send this data to the relevant township administration offices and police stations.

The instructions warn hotel owners and vehicle operators to fully cooperate and allow unimpeded inspections, and threaten that those who fail to comply will face effective punitive action.

TGI Support Revolution has warned that such orders could lead to cases of extortion, bribery, or arbitrary detention for those who refuse to pay, and has urged the public—especially young people—traveling to Taunggyi to exercise particular caution.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 7. Flooding in Kyaukme causes deaths and damage

August 7
Radio NUG

Heavy rainfall in Kyaukme Township, Shan State, has caused flooding, resulting in the deaths of two men and damage to houses and roads, according to local sources.

The flooding began on the afternoon of August 6 in Kyaukme town and nearby villages.

On the morning of August 7, the body of a Shan man was found in the stream between Kaung Lan and Naung Kwun villages after being swept away by floodwaters.

Additionally, U Dee Yar, a man in his 50s who had fled from Naung Cho to Naung Pain village, drowned when his motorcycle was caught in the current near Nam Hoo village. His body was found on the morning of August 7 and taken to the Gor Kha cemetery in Naung Pain, according to the Naung Pain-based Kham Lint Lat Myar Social Assistance Group, which posted the information on social media.

The flooding also caused the collapse of the retaining wall of the pond in Naung Pain village, sending three cars and two people into the water; they were later recovered.

Several wards in Kyaukme—Wards 6 and 9, the Ward Office area, and Taung Nauk Ward—are experiencing severe flooding from overflowing creeks and mountain runoff. Many houses and bridges have been submerged, and the new market is reportedly filled with water.

The floods have caused brick fences around homes to collapse, roads to be eroded by water, and paddy and corn fields to be damaged or destroyed.

These reports were submitted to Radio NUG by correspondents Tharki, Kha Shel, and Pade Poe.
