Union Parliament Representative Committee (CRPH) Chair U Aung Kyi Nyunt paid tribute on behalf of CRPH to the new generation of fallen heroes who gave their lives throughout the journey of the Spring Revolution. His remarks were made during his speech at the ceremony commemorating the 78th Martyrs’ Day.

“Just like the legendary Martyrs, the new generation of courageous youth today have sacrificed much — their lives, bodies, blood, and sweat — and have continued to persevere unwaveringly to this day. They are still striving, without regard to place of birth, ethnicity, or state/region boundaries, with a unified vision for the liberation of the entire country, to uproot the dictatorship from every corner of the nation,” he said.

Although General Aung San was assassinated just months before Myanmar’s independence in 1947, his dream and political vision — of a country where all people, regardless of race, religion, or social class, are equal — remains alive and influential today, said Kim Aris, also known as Ko Htein Lin, in a recorded commemorative message sent for the 78th Martyrs’ Day ceremony.

“Today is a day to solemnly honour and bow in respect to General Aung San and all the Martyrs who bravely stood united, including ethnic nationalities, for the independence of Myanmar. Their sacrifice — giving up their lives — laid the foundation for a free and peaceful Myanmar,” he said.

Ko Htein Lin also shared that although he never had the chance to personally know General Aung San, his grandfather, he grew up hearing about him through his mother and family members, and felt a deep sense of familiarity and connection.

“To them, my grandfather was not only a national hero but also a man of steadfast courage and moral strength. My mother, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, carried on his beliefs and responsibilities, dedicating her life to justice, human rights, and democracy. She often reminded us: ‘Never let fear stand in the way of doing what is right,’” he said in the video.

The message closed with deep respect and homage not only to General Aung San and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, but also to all those who continue to fight and make sacrifices for Myanmar’s freedom — affirming that their values and beliefs remain alive, and expressing hopes for the swift arrival of a truly free and peaceful Myanmar.

U Pyae Sone Aung, executive member of the National League for Democracy (NLD) in Bilin Township, Mon State, who was serving a prison sentence in Thathon Prison, died suddenly around 1 p.m. on July 19. Authorities reportedly cremated his body at 4:52 p.m. the same day.

He had reportedly experienced shortness of breath around 11 a.m. and requested medication from prison authorities, but due to inadequate medical care, he passed away two hours later. No official post-mortem or autopsy was conducted, and his body was immediately cremated by prison officials in the afternoon, sources said.

It is also reported that between July 12 and 13, U Pyae Sone Aung and several other political prisoners were taken from their cells and subjected to beatings and torture by prison officials. One political prisoner was subsequently sent to an emergency medical facility due to the severity of the injuries.

U Pyae Sone Aung served as the NLD’s Information and Communications Officer in Bilin Township and had been sentenced to six years in prison under various political charges, including Section 505(a) by the military junta.

Resistance forces have warned against cooperating with the junta’s election-related authorities in Ye District, stating that they are monitoring the movements of the regime's personnel and will act to prevent the planned election from being carried out.

The statement was jointly issued by the Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF), Ye People’s Defense Force (YPDF), and Dawna Column 2.

They revealed that the junta is preparing to conduct Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) training in Ye District as part of its bid to prolong military rule through staged elections.

The statement warned local administrators and non-CDM (non-Civil Disobedience Movement) staff not to engage in any activities with junta election officials, including attending training, travelling with them, or assisting with election preparations.
