๐ฉ๐ฉ 1. National Unity Government sends message of goodwill to the 75th Karen Martyrs’ Day commemoration, wishing for the successful realization of the Karen revolutionary goals
August 12
The National Unity Government (NUG) has sent a message of goodwill to the ceremony commemorating the 75th Karen Martyrs’ Day, expressing the wish that the goals of the Karen revolution may be fully and successfully achieved.
Today, August 12, 2025, marks the 75th anniversary of Karen Martyrs’ Day, commemorating the deaths of President Saw Ba U Gyi of the Karen National Union (KNU), General Saw Sein Caw, and other Karen revolutionary leaders and comrades. Karen Martyrs’ Day is described as an unforgettable day of sorrow and remembrance in the history of the Karen people’s national movement and revolutionary struggle.
The NUG stated that, at this moment—over four years since the Spring Revolution began—the entire country is united in resisting the military dictatorship, working towards its complete eradication, achieving self-determination, and establishing a new Federal Democratic Union. In this context, if allied Karen revolutionary forces, the NUG’s People’s Defense Force (PDF), and other ethnic revolutionary armed groups continue to work together in unity, determination, and collective effort, the common revolutionary goals will be within reach in the not-too-distant future.
On this 75th Karen Martyrs’ Day, the NUG paid tribute to the Karen revolutionary leaders, the Karen people, and all Karen revolutionary comrades who, across generations, have sacrificed their lives, blood, and sweat in the struggle for democracy, self-determination, and the creation of a Federal Democratic Union.
The NUG further stated that, on this milestone anniversary that recalls the noble sacrifices of the Karen martyrs, it offers prayers and good wishes that all Karen ethnic communities unite to successfully achieve the goals of the Karen revolution.
