ππ 1. “Sectoral, departmental, and policy reforms are under review and being implemented within the National Unity Government,” says the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann has stated that, “sector-based, department-based, and policy-level reforms are currently being reviewed and implemented within the National Unity Government (NUG).”
He made these remarks during the Central Committee Meeting No. (26/2025) of the Interim People’s Administrative Mechanism (IPAM) under the National Unity Government.
The Prime Minister elaborated, “As a national government, it has now been four years since we began implementing an administrative system as a critical component of the revolutionary process. Throughout this period, we have made efforts and achieved successes using the limited resources available, while also facing considerable challenges. To overcome these challenges, it has become necessary to undertake reforms in line with strategic objectives. In this context, we are conducting in-depth reviews and implementing reforms sector by sector, department by department, and in terms of overarching policy.”
Additionally, the Prime Minister called for collective cooperation in the implementation of these reforms according to the needs of the revolution. He emphasized that the revolutionary journey naturally entails both progress and setbacks, but by maintaining the existing momentum and capacity for success, the revolutionary forces must continue to overcome the challenges ahead.
The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann and attended by Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Associate Secretaries, and other relevant departmental officials.

ππ 2. NUG Federal Parliament of Magway issues condolence message on the passing of U Than Tin, MP for Chauk Township Constituency No. (2)

U Than Tin, former political prisoner and active participant in the Spring Revolution, who was also the elected representative of Chauk Township Constituency No. (2) in the Federal Parliament of Magway, has passed away with honor at the age of 75.
His passing occurred at 10:42 PM on July 31, 2025 (7th waxing day of Wagaung, 1387 ME) at an undisclosed revolutionary location, according to information released on August 1.
Upon learning of his death, the Magway Federal Parliament expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with his surviving family members.
During the revolutionary period, U Than Tin diligently served in various roles including as an MP in the Magway Federal Parliament, a member of the National League for Democracy (NLD), and as part of the Commission for Transitional Planning within the Magway Federal Unit. In recognition of his unwavering service, the Federal Parliament of Magway has formally honored his contributions.
The statement further affirms that U Than Tin dedicated himself to the people’s cause until the very end, carrying out the duties of the NLD and the Federal Parliament of Magway in service of the revolution. It pledges that his unfinished journey to overthrow military dictatorship will be carried forward together with the revolutionary people by the Federal Parliament of Magway.
The condolence message ends with deep respect and a prayer for U Than Tin, who fought to eradicate the roots of military dictatorship, to rest in eternal peace.

ππ 3. PSLF/TNLA to hold press conference on current political and military situation, and activities during the month of June

The Palaung State Liberation Front / Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) is set to hold an online press conference to provide an update on the current political and military situation, as well as the developments during the month of June.
“We, the PSLF/TNLA, will be holding a Zoom (online) press conference to report on the current political and military context, as well as operational activities that took place during the past month of June. Media organizations and interested groups are cordially invited to attend,” the announcement stated.
The PSLF/TNLA is one of the ethnic revolutionary forces currently engaged in armed resistance against the ruling military junta.

ππ 4. Displaced children now able to safely pursue their education in underground school, says S&C Education Support Group

Children displaced by conflict are now able to safely continue their education in an underground classroom constructed and donated by the S&C Fire and Conflict Emergency Education Support Group, the organization announced.
The underground school was specifically built to safeguard children from the military junta’s airstrikes targeting civilians, and to provide a secure environment where children affected by the war can continue their learning without disruption, the group stated.

ππ 5. Sudden heavy rains cause stream overflow and flooding in northern Gangaw; homes and crops submerged

In the northeastern part of Gangaw Township, sudden and intense rainfall began at around 5:00 PM on August 1, causing Kwanzeh Stream to rise. Starting around 6:00 PM, floodwaters began entering Po U Village, according to Yaw Alintan reports.
Po U Village is located just five miles northeast of Gangaw town and sits near the Kwanzeh Stream.
It is reported that the village has over 400 households, and as a result of the flooding, brick fences of the village monastery collapsed.
A local resident told Yaw Alintan that this is the first time flooding has occurred in the village, and that farmlands near the village and along the stream were also submerged, with stored paddy crops and various household goods damaged or lost.
Similarly, in Ywar Si Village, which is also located near Kwanzeh Stream, the rising water around 7:00 PM began flooding low-lying areas and residential homes. People living in these low-lying zones were reportedly evacuating to higher ground out of concern that water levels might continue to rise.
It is reported that residents of Po U and Ywar Si villages, currently facing flood damage due to the overflowing stream, are in urgent need of assistance.

ππ 6. TNLA arrests 49 individuals involved in drug trafficking and abuse in Ta’ang Region during July

The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) announced that a total of 49 individuals—15 drug traffickers and 34 drug users—were arrested in July by the township police forces in Kyaukme, Kutkai, Hsipaw, Mongngawt, Namhsan, Mantong, Namtu, and Mogok Townships within the Ta’ang Region.
In Kyaukme Township, the local Ta’ang Region police force apprehended two male drug traffickers and two male users, confiscating 11 heroin soap blocks, 246 yaba pills, 1 mobile phone, and cash amounting to 1,049,000 kyats.
In Kutkai Township, three male users were arrested with 3 grams of narcotics, 100 yaba pills, and one phone.
In Hsipaw Township, five male traffickers, one female trafficker, and two male users were arrested. Seized items included 42 small packets and 68 tablets of stimulant drugs, as well as 5 heroin soap blocks.
In Mongngawt Township, a male drug user traveling by motorbike from Kyaukme to Pan Sari village was arrested at the Man Pin Bridge checkpoint with 615 yaba pills in his possession.
In Namhsan Township, four male users were arrested. Confiscated items included a Lipo energy drink bottle containing heroin, five yaba pills, and three sachets of methamphetamine powder.
In Mantong Township, one male trafficker was arrested with two small packets and 130 tablets of stimulant drugs, along with cash amounting to 452,000 kyats.
In Namtu Township, two male drug users were arrested with 10 yaba pills.
In Mogok Township, six traffickers and twenty users were arrested. Confiscated items included:
- 17 small packets and 379 tablets of yaba
- 6 heroin soap blocks
- a half-full small purified water bottle containing heroin
- 1 bottle of Betadine antiseptic
- 2 eye drop bottles
- a half bottle of traditional medicine (labeled "Sinton Ma Nwel")
- half a bottle labeled "Grand Label" containing yaba
- 10 juice packs suspected of being used for concealment
- 1 additional "Sinton Ma Nwel" bottle
- 1 mobile phone
- cash totaling 1,080,000 kyats
The TNLA noted that these arrests were part of an ongoing effort to combat drug abuse and trafficking in the region.

ππ 7. Protest against Myanmar military dictatorship to be held in front of military attachΓ©’s office in South Korea

It has been announced that a demonstration against the violent military dictatorship will be held in front of the Myanmar military attachΓ©’s office in South Korea.
According to Myanmar democracy activists, the protest is scheduled for Sunday, August 3, at 2:00 PM, outside the military attachΓ©’s office.
The protest will call for:
- Condemnation of sham elections orchestrated by the military leaders
- Denunciation of the unlawful killings and oppression against the Myanmar people
- Participation in commemoration of the 37th anniversary of the 8888 People’s Uprising
It was also stated that historical protest umbrellas used by Yangon resistance forces during the 8888 uprising will be available for purchase during the protest event.
