๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. TDPF issues travel warning for Myeik-Palaw and Myeik-Bokpyin highways due to imminent attacks on junta-occupied areas

August 4

The Tanintharyi People’s Defense Force (TDPF) has issued a travel advisory on August 3, warning the public to exercise caution while traveling on the Myeik–Palaw Union Highway (Route 8) and the Myeik–Bokpyin Highway, as attacks on areas occupied by the junta could occur at any time.

According to TDPF, junta forces have been operating military convoys within Palaw and Tanintharyi townships, which fall under Military Zone 35 of the resistance command structure. This has resulted in ongoing clashes with local People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) operating in those areas.

In Palaw Township, junta artillery fire killed 10 displaced civilians who were taking refuge in a previously safe area. In Tanintharyi Township, 10 civilians from villages located in junta-occupied zones were reportedly arrested and forcibly conscripted into military service.

As such, the TDPF has declared that it will launch attacks on junta-occupied positions at any time. Civilians, including travelers and local villagers, are urged to avoid living near or passing through areas where junta forces are stationed—especially along or near the Myeik–Palaw and Myeik–Bokpyin highways—and are strongly advised to relocate preemptively for their safety.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 6. 26 captured junta soldiers from Taung Su and Taw Wi battles being held or returned home, KNU says

August 4

The Karen National Union (KNU) announced on August 4 that 26 junta soldiers captured during the Taung Su and Taw Wi battles are currently being held in custody. Those who wish to return home have been safely repatriated, while those unable to return for security reasons or who refuse to return have been offered job opportunities and are being humanely held.

The clashes occurred in Taung Su village, Moo Township, within the Kler Lwee Htoo District of the KNU-administered region, where the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and allied forces launched a coordinated attack on junta columns that had established temporary positions on June 25, 2025. The assault resulted in the capture of 23 junta soldiers and a significant cache of weapons and ammunition.

Simultaneously, in a battle that took place in Taw Wi village, under Leiktho Township administration, 3 more junta soldiers were captured along with additional weapons and ammunition.

The 26 captured soldiers from both battles are being held at Battalion 9, in accordance with military law. Those wishing to return to their families have been transported home, while others—either unwilling or unable to return—are being provided with employment and held under humane conditions, the KNU stated.

According to the KNU, most of the captured soldiers were victims of forced conscription. Some were regular troops who had completed their service terms but refused to continue fighting under the junta.
