๐ฉ๐ฉ 1. TNLA Collaborating with Allies to Retain Control of Townships; Facing Pressure from China and SAC Military Offensives; Denies Involvement in Scam Operations
August 5
Radio NUG
The spokesperson of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), Lway Yay Oo, stated during a press briefing on August 5 that the TNLA is actively cooperating with allied forces to retain control of the townships it has already secured.
While TNLA forces withdrew from Naungcho township in northern Shan State to avoid civilian harm, they are continuing efforts to maintain control over other areas such as Kyaukme, Hsipaw, and Mogok, in cooperation with allied resistance groups.
“We stand with the people and are working to achieve the goals of the revolution. We are collaborating with allies and encouraging wider participation from all stakeholders,” said Lway Yay Oo.
She acknowledged that TNLA is under intense pressure from China and simultaneously confronting military offensives from the SAC. While China has urged for the cessation of fighting in northern Shan State, the SAC continues to launch attacks using airstrikes and heavy artillery in townships like Mogok, Thabeikkyin, Hsipaw, and Kyaukme, she explained.
In Naungcho, during the month of July alone, the SAC conducted:
- 56 airstrikes,
- 1,655 artillery shellings,
- 661 drone attacks,
- and used poison gas bombs,
deliberately targeting civilian areas, which led to TNLA’s strategic withdrawal from the township, according to Lway Yay Oo.
Although a meeting between the TNLA and SAC has been arranged under China’s mediation for August, the TNLA has affirmed that it will enter discussions from a position of alignment with the people and in accordance with its core principles.
She stated that although the SAC is demanding the return of townships seized by TNLA, the TNLA has not agreed to relinquish control swiftly or unconditionally.
“Even though the SAC is pressing for the handover of townships, negotiations under such conditions will not yield any meaningful outcome,” she remarked.
Responding to accusations that the TNLA shelters online scam operations, Lway Yay Oo categorically denied the claims.
“These allegations that we are providing cover for scam operations are false. We are, in fact, actively cracking down on such illegal activities,” she declared.
On June 10, TNLA forces arrested 12 individuals involved in scam operations in Namkham, Namtu, and Kutkai townships and transferred them to Chinese authorities. The arrested individuals were Chinese nationals, and the TNLA is continuing operations to eliminate such networks.
“If members of the public have information about scam activities, please report them to us. We are ready to cooperate,” Lway Yay Oo urged.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 2. SAC Attacks DKBA Commander’s Residence in Myawaddy with Drone Bomb
August 5
Radio NUG
The SAC military carried out a drone bombing attack on the residence of DKBA’s Military Commander Colonel Saw Sein Win, located in Waw Lay, Myawaddy Township, causing damage to the house and a vehicle garage, according to military sources. No casualties were reported.
The attack occurred on August 3, and it was reportedly carried out using kamikaze-style suicide drones.
This was the first targeted attack by the SAC on the residence of the DKBA’s top military leader, and it was reportedly executed with clear intent and knowledge of the target.
Although Colonel Saw Sein Win no longer resides at the house, the strike has triggered increased military activity within DKBA, the sources said.
“While DKBA has not openly declared opposition to the SAC, it also does not support the junta. This may have led the military to consider DKBA as an adversary,” a source added.
Meanwhile, the strategic Waw Lay hill outpost near Myawaddy, jointly besieged by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and other revolutionary forces, has become inaccessible to junta ground troops. The SAC is now conducting aerial supply drops of weapons and rations, which resistance forces have reportedly intercepted and seized.
