π©π© 1. MSDF Urges Mon People Not to Cooperate with the Junta’s Sham “Elections” — Call to Oppose with Revolutionary Resolve
August 8
The Mon State Defence Force (MSDF) has urged people not to take part in the military junta’s sham, unjust elections and instead to oppose them with revolutionary awareness.
The appeal was issued on August 8 as part of the MSDF’s statement marking the 78th Mon Revolutionary Day.
The MSDF said it will continue to fight alongside other Mon revolutionary armed groups, Mon nationals at home and abroad, equally-oppressed ethnic armed organizations, and the people’s defence forces that emerged during the Spring Revolution — all in pursuit of a political order the Mon people can determine for themselves and full freedom for all ethnicities and religions across the country.
The MSDF strongly denounced the participation of some political parties in the junta’s illegitimate, staged elections, saying such collaboration undermines and destroys the goals of the people’s revolution and their political aims; it called such cooperation unacceptable and condemned it in the strongest terms.
Accordingly, the MSDF affirmed that it will refuse to recognise or participate in any election orchestrated by the military, and pledged to continue struggling in line with the revolution’s political objectives. The MSDF urged the entire Mon population not to cooperate with the junta’s unjust, staged elections, and to resist them with revolutionary determination.

π©π© 2. As Precursor to 78th Mon Revolutionary Day and 8.8.88 Commemoration, Mon Revolutionary Forces Strike “Khamar-591” in Ye Township with Drones and Explosives
August 8
The Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF) announced on August 8 that, as a preliminary action ahead of the 78th Mon Revolutionary Day and the 8.8.88 commemoration, it attacked the position known as “Khamar-591” in Kyaung Ywa village, Ye Township, using drones and explosive ordnance.
The MSRF said Khamar-591 — located in Kyaung Ywa village and associated with an armed unit described locally as SKa-19 — was struck by drone and explosive attacks on the morning of August 7 at about 11:00 a.m., carried out by MSRF units operating under the defence department of the Mon State Federal Council (MSFC).
The attack focused on the central Khamar-591 post in Kyaung Ywa village. Reports indicate the junta side’s casualty and damage situation is still under investigation.
The MSRF further stated that its fighters carried out the operation successfully without sustaining injuries.

π©π© 3. Two Junta Subordinate Commanders Killed While Attempting to Arrest PDF Members in Oatpho Township — 3802 Brigade Issues Warning
August 8
The 4th Company, “Underground Prowling Tiger” unit of Battalion 3802 in Tharyarwaddy District reported today (August 8) that two junta subordinate commanders — identified as Hla Kyaw and Company Sergeant-Major Nyi Nyi Moe — were shot dead after attempting to detain young PDF members disguised as civilians in Oatpho Township.
According to the unit’s statement, the two men, dressed in plain clothes and riding motorcycles, left from the Oatpho Tason junction area claiming they intended to seize civilians. On the morning of August 7 they encountered four PDF fighters near Thaphanpin Seik village while riding toward the area, and, believing they were ordinary civilians, attempted to arrest the youths. The PDF fighters fired, each delivering a single shot to the head of the two would-be captors; both men died at the scene.
The unit reported that items recovered from the deceased included one hand grenade, 200,000 kyats in cash, one military service card, one military service inspection notebook, one registration document, six license-style photos, and two mobile phones.
The statement added that, because military personnel and pro-junta auxiliaries who harass civilians and revolutionary groups will be confronted vigorously, local people should avoid lingering near sites where junta forces are deployed. The 4th Company of Battalion 3802 urged civilians not to remain in or around those areas.

π©π© 4. Shwebo PDF: Will Work with Allied Forces to Fully Complete the Unfinished Tasks of the 8.8.88 Pro-Democracy Uprising
August 8
The Shwebo Township People’s Defence Force (PDF) has announced that, in order to fully complete the unfinished tasks of the 8.8.88 pro-democracy uprising, it will fight in unity alongside allied forces and the multi-ethnic masses, guided by the “8888 spirit.”
The pledge was made in a message issued on the occasion of the 37th anniversary commemorations of the 8.8.88 uprising.
The statement also expressed deep respect and homage to the monks, students, and civilians who, during the 8.8.88 pro-democracy movement, sacrificed their own interests, lives, blood, and sweat.
It noted that the unity achieved at that time — when monks, students, youth, and the entire multi-ethnic populace stood together — succeeded in completely abolishing the one-party dictatorship of the Burma Socialist Programme Party led by dictator Ne Win, as well as the 1974 Constitution.
The Shwebo PDF stated that the struggle launched during the 8.8.88 uprising to completely dismantle the military dictatorship — which could not be fully uprooted at that time — has been carried forward by the multi-ethnic masses into the present Spring Revolution.
The statement further stressed that, to prevent any resurgence of dictatorship in the future and to build a genuine federal democratic union, the Spring Revolution must entirely remove the three pillars of military rule — the military clique, the military government, and the military bureaucracy — along with the 2008 Constitution.
Accordingly, the Shwebo Township People’s Defence Force solemnly vowed to continue, together with allied forces and the multi-ethnic masses, to fight in unity based on the spirit of 8.8.88 until the unfinished tasks of that uprising are fully accomplished.

π©π© 5. DDMSC: Will Strongly Resist and Boycott the Junta’s Sham Elections Intended to Perpetuate Military Rule
August 8
The Dawei District Democracy Movement Strike Committee (DDMSC) announced today, August 8, that it will strongly oppose and boycott, through the power of the people, the sham elections being planned by the military and the military council to maintain their grip on power.
The announcement was made in a statement marking the 37th anniversary of the 8.8.88 uprising, reaffirming that the committee continues to uphold its original stance.
It described the 8.8.88 pro-democracy uprising — one of Myanmar’s largest and most far-reaching movements against military dictatorship — as having succeeded in toppling successive military governments, including the one-party dictatorship of the Burma Socialist Programme Party led by General Ne Win.
The DDMSC noted that, since the military coup of 2021 led by Min Aung Hlaing, it has consistently resisted the junta through public strikes and political non-cooperation, and has continuously opposed any sham elections organized by the coup regime.
It stated that the coup regime, having faced political, military, and diplomatic pressures throughout more than four years of the revolution, is now attempting to prolong the life of dictatorship by planning to hold sham elections between the third week of December 2025 and the second week of January 2026.
Therefore, the Dawei District Democracy Movement Strike Committee declared that, in line with its original position, it will resolutely resist and boycott — through the power of the people — any sham election conducted to preserve the military and military council’s hold on power.

π©π© 6. 37th Anniversary Press Conference in Front of the Presidential Office in Seoul, South Korea — Letter Sent to Korean Government Calling for “No Engagement with the Military Junta”
August 8
On the occasion of the 37th anniversary of the 8-8-88 pro-democracy uprising, Myanmar Spring Revolution organizations together with Korean civil society groups held a press conference today, calling on the South Korean government to place greater importance on supporting Myanmar’s democracy movement.
During the press conference, a joint letter was sent to the Korean Presidential Office, stating that:
- The recent moves by the military junta are nothing more than cosmetic changes and deceit.
- The junta’s planned election is not intended to promote democracy but is merely a maneuver to legitimize its coup d’Γ©tat.
- For the past four years, South Korea has firmly stood on the side of the Myanmar people, and President Lee Jae-myung himself had openly expressed support when he served as a provincial governor.
- However, as the Spring Revolution has dragged on, the world’s attention and humanitarian assistance have diminished.
Therefore, the letter strongly urged the South Korean government to:
- Respect the will of the Myanmar people,
- Actively contribute to the building and flourishing of democracy,
- Refrain from any engagement with the military junta.
At the press conference, held at 10:00 a.m. on August 8, U Win Paung Maung, a member of the NUG Representative Office in South Korea, stated:
“The 8-8-88 uprising was a major turning point in Myanmar’s democracy movement. Today’s Spring Revolution is the final battle that began with 8-8-88. The spirit of 8-8-88 will never disappear from Myanmar.”
The press conference in front of the Presidential Office in Seoul was led by the “Joint Action for Supporting Myanmar’s Democracy Movement,” with participation from the Committee Against the Military Coup, the Myanmar Federal Democracy Victory Alliance, and other revolutionary organizations.
