🚩🚩 1. AA warns that if Bangladesh fails to take action against corrupt BGB officers who are supporting extremist militants, bilateral tensions could further escalate

September 28

The Arakan Army (AA) has warned that if the Government of Bangladesh does not take action against corrupt officers within the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) who are assisting and encouraging extremist militants, it could damage border stability, security, and relations, and further heighten bilateral tensions.

This warning was issued by the AA on September 27 in response to the recent terrorist attacks carried out by extremist armed groups of ARSA (Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army).

According to the AA statement, certain corrupt BGB officers who sympathize with extremist ideology have been providing support and cooperation to ARSA armed groups.

Because ARSA and RSO armed groups have received full military and logistical assistance, they have been allowed to establish firm bases near BGB outposts. From these bases, they have been entering the Arakan region to carry out terrorist activities.

It has been reported that these extremist militants, crossing from Bangladesh into Maungdaw Township in Arakan State via the Naf River and Mayu mountain routes, have attacked AA border security posts along the frontier, while also targeting Arakanese civilians—executing them in isolated areas, abducting and torturing them, extorting money, looting, and taking hostages.

The AA also stated that on September 16, ARSA attempted to seize Point 601 Border Security Post of the AA, located between Border Posts 56 and 57 in northern Maungdaw Township, as well as the Don Nyo Post near Don Nyo village. They carried out infiltration attempts, including harassment fire from across the Bangladesh side.

Furthermore, the AA observed signs of preparation for coordinated attacks aimed at capturing outposts, including reconnaissance with drones, ambush planning, and blocking potential reinforcement routes.

These border security outposts are situated in difficult terrain, especially during the rainy season, where reinforcements from nearby bases face natural obstacles.

The AA explained that as heavy fighting has been ongoing with the fascist military in Kyaukphyu and three other Arakan-connected areas, ARSA and RSO have taken advantage of the situation, coordinating with fascist junta forces from inside Bangladesh to jointly attack AA’s border security outposts.

It is also known that the fascist junta continues supplying weapons and ammunition to ARSA and RSO.

Although ARSA has repeatedly attempted since September 16 to seize Point 601 outpost, they have failed due to AA’s counteroffensives. The AA confirmed that the post remains fully under its control, with no militants present nearby.

Meanwhile, extremist groups crossing the border have brutally killed local civilians, disguising corpses in AA uniforms and releasing photos and videos to conceal their crimes and blame the AA.

The AA urged the Government of Bangladesh to swiftly identify and punish corrupt BGB officers and sympathizers who are supporting these extremist militants. Failure to take action will further undermine border stability, security, and bilateral relations, and raise tensions.

The resurgence of ARSA and RSO terrorism along the Bangladesh–Arakan border not only directly threatens the safety of all Arakanese civilians but also endangers foreign investments and the security of foreign nationals in the region. Therefore, the AA called on the international community to monitor closely and help safeguard stability.

At the same time, the AA also urged the Bangladesh Government to urgently seek means of cooperation with the AA and prioritize collaborative arrangements that could promote mutual understanding and stability.

🚩🚩 3. Junta airstrike on Kan Htoo Ma village in Taze Township kills 11 civilians and injures 9

September 28

The Ministry of Human Rights of the National Unity Government (NUG), citing local residents and human rights monitors, confirmed that the fascist junta launched an airstrike on Kan Htoo Ma village, Taze Township, Ye-U District, Sagaing Region, killing 11 innocent civilians and injuring 9 others.

On September 26, around midday, the junta dropped two 500-pound bombs from a jet fighter.

The aircraft, from Tada-U Air Base, bombed Kan Htoo Ma village on its return flight after circling Kalaywa town, despite there being no clashes in the area.

The bombs struck near the Union Highway close to a petrol station on the western side of the village, killing civilians in the vicinity.

As of 5 p.m. on September 27, 11 civilians had been confirmed dead and 9 others injured. Three buildings were also destroyed in the airstrike.

The NUG stressed that since the illegal coup, the junta has persistently carried out airstrikes on civilians in areas with no military activity, and at present, while attempting to stage a sham election, the military’s violence against civilians has further intensified.

The junta, while portraying an image of national stability and inviting sham peace talks to mislead the international community, continues to escalate its attacks on civilians.
