📌📌 1. Condolence Messages Sent by IEC, KSCC, and KNA on the Passing of Deputy Union Minister Mar Khu E. Chit Htun

September 28

The Interim Executive Council (IEC), Karenni State Consultative Council (KSCC), and Karenni Nationalities Army (KNA) have sent letters of condolence on the passing of Mar Khu E. Chit Htun, also known as U Chit Htun, who was a Central Committee Member of the Karenni Nationalities People’s Liberation Front (KNPLF) as well as the Deputy Union Minister of the Ministry of Federal Union Affairs under the National Unity Government (NUG).

He passed away on September 25 while serving in his political responsibilities. The Ministry of Federal Union Affairs family also issued a statement expressing deep sorrow and solidarity with his bereaved family.

U Chit Htun, a revolutionary and political comrade, had dutifully carried out military, political, and international relations responsibilities within the KNPLF since 1992. From April 16, 2021, after the coup, he served as Deputy Union Minister of the Ministry of Federal Union Affairs under the NUG, dedicating himself to the federal democratic struggle and the building of a future federal union.

The IEC’s condolence message stated that Mar Khu E. Chit Htun remained committed to the establishment of a Federal Democratic Union until the very last days of his life, while also supporting ethnic unity and youth affairs within Karenni State. For this, his role will be acknowledged and recorded in the history of Karenni State.

According to KSCC records, besides serving in the KNPLF Central Committee’s Political Department, he also led the Youth Affairs Department of the KNPLF and served as Vice Chairperson of the Kayaw Literature and Culture Central Committee, contributing to national responsibilities.

The KNA also acknowledged him as a comrade, ally, and leader who, together with the KNPLF, engaged in the struggles against military dictatorship, for equality of nationalities, and for the emergence of a genuine Federal Union.

Organizations sending condolences affirmed that Mar Khu E. Chit Htun’s steadfast stance and beliefs in building a Federal Democratic Union—the shared goal of all revolutionary forces—would remain on record, and that they would continue striving to carry on the unfinished revolutionary and nation-building tasks.
