๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. Military vessels departing Bhamo via Ayeyarwady River — residents along riverbanks urged to stay alert

September 5

Military vessels that had been stationed in Bhamo, Kachin State, departed southward along the Ayeyarwady River this morning, September 5, prompting defense groups to urge riverside residents to stay on high alert.

According to a local military source, the junta’s naval vessels looted property from Bhamo civilians, loaded it aboard, and departed around 7:00 am today, escorted from above by a Y-12 aircraft for security.

It is reported that six military vessels left Bhamo. These were the same vessels that had transported reinforcements, arms, and ammunition into Bhamo on August 1. The information was confirmed by Kachin News Group, citing local sources.

Resistance groups warned that whenever these military vessels travel upstream or downstream, the junta habitually bombs and shells villages along the riverbanks to clear the route. Therefore, residents living near the river are being urged to exercise extreme caution, according to frontline KIA sources.

At the same time the vessels left Bhamo, another five military vessels carrying troops departed from Katha, Sagaing Region, at 7:30 am today, heading toward Bhamo, according to local sources.

Records show that when military vessels last sailed upriver from Mandalay’s Gawein Port to Bhamo, junta shelling and airstrikes killed at least 30 civilians living in villages along the riverbanks.

Resistance forces therefore warned that the junta could once again carry out indiscriminate attacks during this latest deployment, urging all residents along the Ayeyarwady River to stay vigilant.
