๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. Prime Minister Mahn Win Khaing Than Urges Necessary Reforms for the Effectiveness of the Revolution

At the December 10th meeting of the National Unity Government (NUG), Session No. (30/2024), Prime Minister Mahn Win Khaing Than delivered the following remarks:

"Our government has numerous matters to focus on. Time is limited, so I urge every ministry and the entire government to prepare and act on what we aim to accomplish in the first and second quarters of 2025. As a revolutionary government that has taken responsibility for nearly four years, we need to assess the state of the revolution and the emerging changes. If necessary reforms can lead to greater effectiveness, we must implement them and move forward."

Additionally, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring that the public broadly understands the steps being taken to manage the administrative mechanisms effectively.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 2. "To Achieve Systemic Revolutionary Change, It Is Essential to Sever the Root Cause of Tyranny," Says Union Minister U Tin Tun Naing

During a discussion titled "Will the National Unity Government Join the Spring Development Bank Market?" Union Minister U Tin Tun Naing expressed:

"Systemic revolutionary change requires cutting off the fundamental sources of tyranny that oppressive regimes relentlessly cling to, such as access to critical resources like water. This ensures that future leaders understand the lesson that such actions will not be tolerated. As part of this, we proposed selling off illegitimate assets held by the military junta.

The message we want to convey is that no future tyrants should feel secure in their power. Even the wealth they held before seizing power must be stripped away. Currently, the military junta is experiencing losses in financial, military, and diplomatic fronts."

Deputy Minister for Human Rights U Aung Kyaw Moe announced via social media on December 11 that members of the Myanmar community in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, will have an opportunity to meet with NUG ministers.

The meeting is scheduled for December 14, with attendance confirmed by Union Ministers Dr. Sasa, U Htin Linn Aung, Deputy Minister U Moe Zaw Oo, and Deputy Minister U Aung Kyaw Moe.

Myanmar human rights activist Salaiman Halian has received the U.S. Department of State’s Global Human Rights Defender Award from Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

The award ceremony, held on December 10, honored eight human rights defenders from around the world. Salaiman Halian, Program Manager of the Chin Human Rights Organization, has been recognized for his work monitoring, researching, documenting, educating, and advocating on behalf of oppressed and marginalized groups in Myanmar.

At a ceremony honoring the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, a Myanmar youth from Norway, Maung Teza, performed a peace-themed song while wearing a t-shirt featuring the image of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the 1991 Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

The song highlighted the struggles of children and youth affected by war worldwide. Maung Teza was joined by children and youth from Norway in the performance. This year’s Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Nihon Hidankyo (Hibakusha), a Japanese group advocating for a nuclear-free world and raising awareness about the devastating impact of nuclear weapons.

Myanmar-origin activists and their families in the San Francisco Bay Area held a three-day protest against China's interference in Myanmar's internal affairs.

The protest took place on December 10, Human Rights Day, featuring slogans and banners demanding that China refrain from meddling in Myanmar’s issues. Participants joined the global protest initiative GAACMM Campaign, uniting voices from Northern California and the Bay Area in solidarity with Myanmar's pro-democracy movement.
