๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. KNDF Battalion 17 Holds Memorial Ceremony for Five Fallen Heroes

The Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF) Battalion 17 held a memorial ceremony for five brave fighters who fell on December 17, 2022.

On that day, the five soldiers from KNDF Battalion 17 lost their lives during an armed resistance against the military junta in a location in Shadaw Township, Karenni State.

The second-anniversary memorial ceremony was held at a site in Shadaw Township, attended by Battalion 17’s officers, commanders, relevant officials, and local residents.

KNDF Battalion 17 stated that these five individuals, who made the ultimate sacrifice, will forever be honored and remembered in history as Karenni National Heroes.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Resistance Forces Attack Pro-Military Pyu Saw Htee Militia in Myaing Township

At 8:00 AM on December 18, three armed Pyu Saw Htee militia members from the pro-military Tharyarkan Village in Myaing Township ventured approximately 200 feet out of their village. They were ambushed by resistance forces, according to a statement from the Central Ayeyarwady Regional Defense Force.

The attack lasted for about an hour, and one of the three militia members was shot and injured. The injured individual was carried back into the village.

The resistance forces that carried out the joint attack included several groups: the Central Ayeyarwady Regional Defense Force, the Storm People’s Defense Force, Myaing Battalion 4 Sanchaw, Myaing Battalion 2 Gallon, the Spring Brotherhood Battalion, the Dhowinma Battalion, the Dhowin Nyoung Battalion, the Myaing Raja Battalion, the Union Brother Battalion, and the God of Myaing Battalion.

Additionally, in Myaing and Pakokku Townships, junta forces are conducting military operations, burning villages, and destroying properties. Over 100 homes in Wakyuntwin and Ywathaaye villages were burned down, with two villagers reportedly killed. Crops, sesame fields, and valuable belongings were also destroyed.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Four KIA Soldiers Killed in Attack on a Checkpoint by PDF Forces in Lawar Village

On the morning of December 17, around 9:00 AM, People's Defense Force (PDF) groups led by Min Zeya Thant launched an attack on a Kachin Independence Army (KIA) checkpoint in Lawar Village, located along the Tanai-Ledo Road in Kachin State.

The PDF forces, arriving in two vehicles from Shaduzup Village, reportedly killed four KIA soldiers and injured two others. The vehicles carried approximately ten soldiers in total.

While the attack on the Lawar checkpoint has been confirmed, detailed information about the incident has yet to be disclosed, according to KIO (Kachin Independence Organization) spokesperson Major Naw Bu.

Earlier, on July 8, 2023, KIA forces attacked the home of PDF leader Min Zeya Thant in Shaduzup Village, resulting in no fewer than four KIA casualties.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. Two Children Injured by Artillery Shell Fired by Junta Navy in Maungdaw

Two children were injured in Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, due to an artillery shell fired by the junta’s Navy, according to a report from the Rakhine-based APM news agency.

On December 18, at around 3:30 PM, a junta Navy vessel near Kyauk Pandu opened fire on nearby villages, reportedly firing multiple rounds of heavy artillery.

The artillery hit and injured two boys, 13-year-old Zaw Lin Htike and 14-year-old Aung Aung Lin Htike, from Udaung Village, Maungdaw Township.

The injuries caused significant damage to their bodies, and both children are currently receiving medical treatment.

On December 17, artillery shells fired from the same junta Navy vessel also destroyed homes in Shwe Zarr Village, Maungdaw Township, setting some of them ablaze.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 5. Military Attack on Myakantha and Thanpinhkone Villages in Pathein Gyi Township Injures a Monk

It was reported by the Voice of Mandalay group that the military attacked Myakantha and Thanpinhkone villages in Pathein Gyi Township using heavy artillery and airstrikes, injuring one monk.

On the morning of December 19, at around 7 a.m., the military launched four artillery shells into Myakantha village. As a result, one monk sustained injuries from shrapnel, and a monastery building along with a vehicle were damaged.

Similarly, at around 9 a.m., the military carried out an airstrike on Thanpinhkone village. However, the extent of casualties and destruction in the village remains unverified.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 6. Magway Air Force Y-12 Aircraft Conducts Seven Airstrikes Near Kyauk Hlae Ka Village in Kani Township

On December 18, the Magway Air Force carried out seven airstrikes near Kyauk Hlae Ka village, close to the Min Kin Township border, using a Y-12 aircraft. According to a report from the Kani People’s Defense Force (PDF), approximately 70 bombs were dropped during the strikes.

The attack resulted in the destruction of 13 homes and the death of five cattle. Residents have been urged to refrain from unnecessary gatherings or hosting festivals for their safety.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 7. Temporary Closure of the Salin-Sinphyugyun-Tanyone-Seikphyu Road

The Salin-Sinphyugyun-Tanyone-Seikphyu road in Salin Township, Minbu District, Magway Region, has been temporarily closed, according to an announcement from the Salin People’s Defense Force (PDF).

The closure began on December 11, following intensified military offensives by junta troops, including LIB-21, Chaung-U, Seikphyu, and LIB-101 battalions, consisting of around 200 personnel. These forces have been conducting operations in Tanyone Sub-Township, leading to clashes in various villages.

Over the past week, junta forces have used artillery, drones, and airstrikes in villages along the Sinphyugyun-Tanyone road, resulting in the deaths of two civilians and injuries to five others.

On the morning of December 19, junta troops were reportedly conducting searches and seizing property in villages along the Sinphyugyun-Tanyone road. With the possibility of sudden clashes between local defense forces and junta troops, residents have been urged to avoid using the road temporarily.

The PDF stated that they would announce when the road becomes safe for use. For emergencies, residents can contact the designated hotline at (09952666557).

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 8. Recruitment Open for Basic Military Training Course No. 1 by Karenni (Kayah) Region Subdivision Battalion 1109

Phoenix Battalion announced that Battalion 1109 of the Karenni (Kayah) Region Subdivision is now recruiting trainees for Basic Military Training Course No. 1.

“We aim to transform our valuable youth into brave Phoenix warriors to fight against injustice, instead of losing them to the junta’s oppressive forced conscription. Our youth should rise to resist tyranny courageously,” the Phoenix Battalion stated.

Applications can be submitted via the official pages, P3-1109 Phoenix Battalion and Phoenix Fundraising P3-1109. The recruitment period is open from December 20 to December 31.
