🚩🚩 1. Villages near Shwe Settaw Pagoda Torched by the Military: 36 Homes Destroyed

Due to the arson committed by the military near Shwe Settaw Pagoda in Minbu Township, Magway Region, the village of Oak Pin Me was left with 36 homes burnt to ashes, according to reports from local residents and regional news sources.

On January 11, an estimated 150 soldiers from the junta forces attacked Oak Pin Me village without any prior engagement in combat. They launched heavy artillery shells and stormed the village, setting fire to 36 houses, witnesses said.

According to a local villager, the military column, which locals refer to as “Sei Taw” forces, targeted and burned down the newly built homes located in the southern part of the village. These homes had been reconstructed after a devastating fire in 2020.

This incident marks the first time the military has burned down civilian houses in Minbu Township, locals added. The soldiers involved in the arson reportedly belonged to Battalion 88 and Light Infantry Battalion 10 stationed in Minbu. Over 500 residents of Oak Pin Me village were forced to flee for safety due to the attack.

Additionally, the junta forces have been intensifying their presence near the Mann Shwe Settaw Pagoda, harassing travelers, abducting civilians for forced recruitment, and looting public property. As a result, the Battalion 6 stationed in Minbu District issued a warning on December 7, prior to this incident, advising people to avoid the vicinity of Shwe Settaw Pagoda.

🚩🚩 2. Man Severely Injured by Landmine in Hsipaw Township

A man from San Phyet Village, located in Hsipaw Township within the jurisdiction of Ta’ang Region Command-2, was seriously injured after stepping on a landmine, according to a statement from the PSLF/TNLA Information and Public Relations Department.

The victim, identified as Sai Aik Sai, 33 years old, stepped on a landmine while clearing grass on his property around 8:00 AM on January 7.

The explosion resulted in the amputation of his left leg and inflicted severe injuries on other parts of his body, the report confirmed.

On December 18, another man was similarly injured near a military camp of the junta’s Light Infantry Battalion 23 in Hsipaw Township when he stepped on a landmine. According to PSLF/TNLA records, his injuries also resulted in the amputation of one leg.

🚩🚩 3. Resistance Forces Attack Junta Convoy in Laungshay: 3 Killed, 2 Captured

Resistance coalition forces launched attacks on a junta military convoy in Laungshay Township, Magway Region, over two consecutive days, resulting in 3 junta soldiers killed and 2 captured alive, according to an announcement from Gangaw District PDF Battalion-3 on the evening of January 11.

The junta convoy, consisting of 54 personnel from police, Light Infantry Battalion, and other forces based at Saw Township Police Station, left for Laungshay Township on December 28. They were engaged in combat with resistance forces, including Gangaw District PDF Battalions 3, 5, and 6, as well as Magway Region Drone Unit and Minbu District Attack Force, on December 30.

In the initial clash, one junta soldier was killed, and one was captured alive, while three others sustained serious injuries. The resistance forces also seized an MA-2 rifle and ammunition during the encounter.

On December 31, the resistance forces pursued the retreating junta troops, leading to another battle. In this clash, two junta soldiers were killed, and one was captured alive. The resistance forces seized additional weapons, including an MA-2 rifle, an MA-3 rifle, a G-3 rifle, and ammunition.

On December 23, resistance forces also ambushed a convoy consisting of junta troops and their families fleeing from military camps in Kanpetlet Township. The skirmish, which occurred in the evening, resulted in one police officer killed and four others, including a captain, injured.

The resistance forces delayed releasing this information out of concern for the safety of civilians and have pledged to continue providing updates on subsequent developments.

🚩🚩 4. KIA Allied Forces Pursue and Attack Escaping Junta Troops from Mansi Town, Resulting in Heavy Casualties

In Mansi, Kachin State, junta troops fleeing from their headquarters in Mansi town were pursued and attacked by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and allied forces, resulting in significant casualties, according to local military sources.

The KIA, Kachin People's Defense Force (KPDF), and the student army ABSDF successfully captured military bases from Infantry Battalions 601, 319, and Artillery Battalion 352 in Mansi on January 8. During the clashes, over 300 junta soldiers fled their positions. On January 11, more than 100 of these fleeing soldiers were reportedly killed during a subsequent attack, sources confirmed.

A video released by military sources on January 12 shows graphic scenes of deceased soldiers, injured individuals, and abandoned weapons in a remote forested area, where the attack took place. The footage, titled "The Last Journey of the Escaping Troops from Mansi," captures an on-site commentary, stating, "Did they think they could escape? These are the ones who fled from Infantry Battalions 319 and 601 of the Mansi base, and we pursued them relentlessly."

The KIA and allied forces began their offensive to capture Mansi and Bhamo in Kachin State on December 4, 2024. After more than a month of intense fighting, they fully took control of Mansi Township and are now advancing toward the remaining junta strongholds in Bhamo.

🚩🚩 5. Drone Bomb Attack on Junta’s Infantry Battalion 24 in Pakokku Township

In Pakokku Township, Magway Region, Infantry Battalion 24 of the junta forces was targeted with a drone bomb attack by resistance forces, causing potential significant damage, according to the Pon Taung Tiger PDF.

The People’s Defense Forces (PDF) carried out the attack on January 9 at approximately 3:30 PM, dropping 10 bombs on the battalion using drones. The primary target was the officers' quarters within the camp, increasing the likelihood of heavy casualties and structural damage. Investigations into the full extent of the damage and casualties are ongoing.

The junta forces retaliated with artillery fire, limiting the resistance's ability to continue the attack. The drone units managed to carry out a single strike and withdrew without any casualties.

The attack was a coordinated effort by the Pakokku Township PDF, the Pon Taung Tiger PDF, and the Eagle Wings Drone Force.
