January 18, Radio NUG

The Chinese Ministry of Public Security has announced plans to intensify efforts to dismantle criminal syndicates engaged in cross-border human trafficking in the Myawaddy area.

According to recent reports, numerous Chinese nationals, including actors and beauty pageant professionals, were lured and trafficked to the Thailand-Myanmar border. These individuals were cut off from communication and trapped, drawing widespread public attention.

The Ministry is prioritizing the rescue of stranded Chinese nationals while launching extensive investigations into these incidents. It has mobilized local security forces and partnered with diplomatic missions abroad to facilitate rescue operations and case investigations, as reported by Xinhua News Agency.

Chinese authorities have already rescued some victims and safely repatriated them to China. However, additional cases have emerged, including the trafficking of a Chinese actor through Myawaddy's "Apollo Park" to zones like "Huang Ra" and "Khain Shwun," known hubs of online scam operations.

The syndicates responsible for these crimes, operating under the protection of Border Guard Force (BGF) units led by Major Saw Chit Thu, were discovered to be involved in fraudulent schemes. Collaborative operations by Chinese and Thai law enforcement agencies have so far resulted in the arrest of 12 suspects. Investigations and efforts to apprehend more individuals are ongoing.
