The ULA/AA has been actively working to mitigate the risks posed by landmines and unexploded ordnance in 15 townships, including Paletwa, Pauktaw, Minbya, Mrauk-U, Kyauktaw, Ramree, Myebon, Ponnagyun, Rathedaung, Buthidaung, Maungdaw, Thandwe, Gwa, Toungup, and Ann. According to Arakan Princess Media, since regaining control of these towns, ULA/AA has been conducting awareness campaigns, distributing educational materials, and installing warning signs in areas previously occupied by the military junta. This includes towns, villages, and areas formerly used as temporary or permanent military camps.
Civilians are being warned to avoid former military sites and battlefields, as well as to exercise caution near roadsides while traveling by car or motorcycle. Incidents of stepping on abandoned landmines or unexploded devices while grazing livestock, gathering firewood, or foraging have led to fatalities, injuries, and loss of limbs. To address these dangers, ULA/AA has installed cautionary signboards and continues to monitor the affected areas.
Furthermore, ULA/AA has been organizing landmine risk awareness sessions and distributing pamphlets to the public. Arakan Army personnel are also actively engaged in clearing landmines and unexploded ordnance from these regions.
