Following directives from the NUG Defense Minister, combating narcotics is being treated as a national duty, according to a statement released by Battalion 2 of the Kawlin District on January 21.
The statement reads:
"At present, Battalion 2 of Kawlin District, besides engaging in operations against the SAC, is acting on instructions from the Defense Minister to treat narcotics suppression as a national obligation. In coordination with higher authorities, we are taking measures against individuals involved in narcotics consumption, trafficking, distribution, and production, arresting and detaining offenders."
The statement also highlighted that since the commencement of these anti-drug operations, there have been attacks from narcotics traffickers against Battalion 2 through defamatory narratives.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 2. Student Armed Forces Recruiting Members to "Penetrate Central Myanmar"

The Student Armed Forces (SAF) is recruiting new members for their mission to "penetrate Central Myanmar," according to reports.
With 2025 anticipated to be a pivotal year in transitioning revolutionary warfare from mountainous regions to the central plains, the SAF views this as a crucial period for advancing the revolution and building a new nation. The SAF has emphasized the need for brave and capable revolutionaries to join their fight.
Recruits are required to embrace principles of liberation from oppression, nation-building, and disciplined compliance with commands and hierarchical structures. Those interested in participating in the campaign, including students and individuals from all walks of life who are driven by a revolutionary spirit, are encouraged to join the SAF to fight for truth and justice.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 3. Military Junta Airstrikes on Hti Chaint Result in Child Casualty

Despite no active clashes in Hti Chaint, the junta carried out an airstrike on Ton Lon village, resulting in the death of one child and injuries to another, according to local sources.
The air raid occurred on the morning of January 20. A displaced resident from Hti Chaint said:
"The area had been peaceful with no military activity or clashes. The airstrike targeted a house directly within the village."
Since 2023, People's Defense Forces have attempted to capture Hti Chaint Township, without full success. However, they secured the Maung Kone village, where a Chinese-funded nickel smelting plant is located, declaring it free of junta control in August 2024.
The junta also conducted airstrikes on Kham Pat in Sagaing Region on the night of January 20.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 4. Gambling Den Raided in Laung Lone Township

At around 3 PM on January 21, People's Defense Forces (PDF) raided a gambling den operating under the pretext of a religious festival in Kathaung Ni village, Laung Lone Township.
During the raid, authorities confiscated gambling-related materials and funds. Those involved were made to sign pledges promising not to engage in gambling activities in the future. Additionally, fines were imposed, and the offenders were subsequently released.
The PDF emphasized that gambling is strictly prohibited in Laung Lone Township. Repeated warnings had been issued, including an official announcement dated April 13, 2023 (Notification No. 139/23, Directive No. 106). Violators were warned of stringent action.
A total of 24,285,750 MMK in gambling money was confiscated during the raid, which will be used to support revolutionary activities.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 5. Intense Clashes Between Junta and AA in Rakhine Border Areas

The fascist junta is facing intense clashes with the Arakan Army (AA) in areas along the Rakhine-Yoma ranges, and borders with Bago, Magway, and Ayeyarwady Regions.
According to the AA, the junta’s Western Command lost control of all its bases in Ann, Toungup, and Gwa townships. Fighting has intensified in strategic locations such as Sittwe, Kyaukpyu, and Mrauk-U. The junta has employed heavy artillery, drones, snipers, and airstrikes in its offensives. Drone and air attacks have become increasingly frequent.
On January 20, the junta launched a drone strike on Wah Bo village in Sittwe Township, setting civilian houses ablaze. Similarly, clashes have persisted for over a week in Ann Township near locations such as Kyamin Kan, Pein Yae Zan, and Kyet Yae Zan, involving SAC’s 88th and 99th divisions. Despite repeated offensives, junta forces have suffered significant casualties, lost weapons and supplies, and retreated on several occasions. Prisoners of war have also been captured.
Clashes are ongoing near Point 369 Hill on the Rakhine-Ayeyarwady border, and Chin Su village in Ayeyarwady’s Yegyi Township.
