๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 3. KNU Chairman: We Must Oppose the Military’s Effort to Dominate Through Elections (January 31)

KNU Chairman Padoh Saw Kwe Htoo Win stated that efforts by the coup regime to establish dominance through elections must be opposed.

He highlighted the military junta’s disregard for the suffering of the people and resistance forces, while making continuous attempts to cling to power without genuine solutions.

"The junta does not intend to build Myanmar as a federal democratic union. They are focused solely on protecting their power and interests while continuing to cling to the 2008 Constitution," the chairman warned.

He further noted that preparations for nationwide elections were aimed at gaining international recognition as a legitimate government.

However, the KNU strongly opposes this, calling on everyone to resist such actions. Padoh Saw Kwe Htoo Win emphasized the growing resistance from the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) nationwide, including in urban centers. He pointed out that despite the junta's efforts to maintain control, they face defeats on the battlefield, with soldiers and officers increasingly demoralized and captured.

January 31 marks the 76th Karen National Revolution Day, which has now been celebrated in Manerplaw for the first time in over three decades.
