The Karen National Union (KNU), Brigade 4, has reportedly seized over 2,000 bags of rice from a motorized boat transporting supplies for the military junta in Tanintharyi Township, according to a Karen-language news report by Kwel Kalu.
On January 2, the Myat Thiri Aung motorized boat, carrying supplies intended for the junta’s troops, was intercepted by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), Battalion 11, near a coastal area. The boat was found to contain a total of 2,850 bags of rice and other supplies, all of which were confiscated by the KNU.
Additionally, the KNU stated that the intercepted boat is linked to Pyu Saw Htee leader U Shane Nyunt, a junta-affiliated militia leader from Shwe Gye Nyaw Village.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 2. Heavy Losses for Junta’s Infantry Division 33 at Oak Nwe Bout Village Battle; 12 Surrendered with White Flags

In the Oak Nwe Bout Village battle, located southeast of Wetlet Township, junta forces from Infantry Division 33 suffered heavy casualties, with dozens killed and 12 soldiers surrendering with white flags to the People's Defense Forces (PDF), as reported by Spring Revolution News.
On January 4, Infantry Division 33 entered the Shain Makhar Police Station area using three military vehicles from Sa Taw Village, capturing four local civilians as hostages to shield their movements. The unit then stationed itself around homes, monasteries, and schools in Oak Nwe Bout Village, releasing the hostages later that night.
At around 5 AM on January 5, a fierce battle erupted as PDF battalions and allied Spring Revolution forces launched a coordinated attack. By 1 PM, the junta troops, overwhelmed by the assault, reportedly burned houses and disposed of their dead bodies by setting them on fire.
Of the estimated 120 soldiers in the military column, only 40 were able to retreat, while 12 surrendered to the PDFs with white flags. The defectors revealed that they were retreating from losses in Rakhine State and were tasked with reinforcing the Shain Makhar Police Station.
Infantry Division 33, notorious for its brutality, remains one of the junta's three most aggressive divisions that have yet to experience large-scale defections. The other divisions include Division 66, based in Innma, and Division 77, based in Bago.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 3. Junta Convoy Supporting Anankwin Base Forced to Retreat; Arms and Ammunition Seized

The junta’s convoy sent to support the strategic Anankwin Base in Karen State’s Kyar Inn Seik Gyi Township was forced to retreat following a blockade and attack by resistance forces, according to the Red Dragon Column (RDC).
On December 30, a convoy consisting of over 150 troops from Infantry Division 44’s Sub-Divisions (2) and (2) attempted to reinforce the Anankwin Base. Fighting began at 2 PM that day and escalated until the evening of January 2. Despite support from heavy artillery (155mm and 81mm rounds), aerial bombings by Y-12 aircraft, and multiple strikes from jet fighters, the junta troops failed to advance and eventually retreated.
The operation was conducted by the KNLA, RDC, and Special Operation Forces (SOF), who seized 15 small firearms from the junta troops. Ground reports confirmed that 34 junta soldiers were killed, and around 50 were injured during the clashes.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 4. Two Junta Vehicles Ambushed, Resulting in One Death and Six Injuries

Two military vehicles leaving the Defense Equipment Factory (Factory No. 14) in Nyaung-U Township were ambushed by resistance forces while traveling along the Padaung-Nyaung-U-Seikphyu route, according to a statement by the Chin Defense Force-Asho (CDF-Asho).
The ambush occurred near Nyaung Kone Village in Nyaung-U Township at around 7:30 AM on January 3. Approximately 50 soldiers were onboard the vehicles, one of which was destroyed during the 20-minute clash.
The attack was coordinated by the CDF-Asho, the Minbu District Battalion 8, and the Nyaung-U Township People's Defense Force (PDF). Reports indicate that one junta soldier was killed and six were injured during the incident.
Additionally, fleeing junta troops from the Arakan region were intercepted in Ann Township, leading to the capture of 11 junta soldiers and the confiscation of nine small firearms, ammunition, and other military supplies on January 3 and 4.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 5. Bombing by Three Engine-Mounted Paramotors in Taungtha Kills One Woman

In Shwe Si Gyi Village, Taungtha Township, Myingyan District, Mandalay Region, an attack by three engine-mounted paramotors operated by the military council resulted in the death of one woman and injuries to a child, according to a statement by the Taungtha People's Movement Committee.
The bombing occurred around 4:20 AM on January 5, as three paramotors approached from the Meiktila side and dropped bombs on residential homes in Shwe Si Gyi Village.
During the attack, a 58-year-old woman named Ma Myint Than was killed, while a 12-year-old child sustained injuries. Additionally, two cows were killed, and two others were injured.
This marks the third instance of the military council using engine-mounted paramotors to conduct bombings in Taungtha Township, targeting civilians.
The paramotors, known for their loud and intense noise, provide little time for civilians to take precautionary measures. As such, residents are being urged to remain highly vigilant.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 6. Artillery Shelling by the Military in Kalay Kills One Woman

In Lat Pan Chaung Village, Kalay Township, Sagaing Region, an artillery shell fired by the military struck the area, killing one woman and leaving two others critically injured, reports indicate.
At around 8:00 AM on January 5, the military artillery unit stationed in Kalay Town fired indiscriminately at Lat Pan Chaung Village without any preceding battle or conflict.
As a result of the shelling, a 47-year-old woman named Daw Zan Bwesone was killed. Two other civilians were severely injured.
Daw Zan Bwesone is survived by her husband and four children.
Reports also indicate that earlier, at around 4:00 AM on January 4, the military shelled Lat Pan Chaung Village at least three times, damaging civilian homes.

The People's Defense Force (PDF) of Myaing Township, Magway Region, issued a directive on January 5, prohibiting the sale of weapons and ammunition owned by the organization for personal gain.
The directive stated that the weapons and ammunition acquired during the revolution are the result of the public's sacrifices and hard work. Selling them for personal benefit is deemed unacceptable and contrary to the principles of the revolution.
The announcement encouraged those facing unavoidable hardships or challenges to seek assistance or guidance from local township authorities, nearby zones, districts, or village leaders rather than resorting to selling weapons or ammunition.
Furthermore, any reports or investigations confirming the misuse of such resources during the revolution will result in strict action, including disciplinary measures determined by township leaders and trusted individuals.

The People's Defense Force, under Strategic Command 27, Division 2, Battalion 7805, Sub-Battalion 5 (YARMA Brigade), has announced the recruitment of new cadets.
Applicants must be physically fit, in good health, and able to complete basic military training. They should be prepared to serve wherever assigned and commit to at least two years of duty during the revolutionary period.
Candidates are also required to uphold revolutionary ideals, demonstrate a strong will to eradicate tyranny, and comply with the rules and regulations of the battalion.
