๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. Union Minister Dr. Sasa Meets with Co-Chair of the US Congressional Burma Caucus and Ukraine's Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee Deputy Chair

Union Minister Dr. Sasa met with Representative Bill Huizenga, the Co-Chair of the US Congressional Burma Caucus, and Dr. Hryhoriy, Deputy Chair of Ukraine's Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, according to an announcement made by Dr. Sasa on January 8.

"I am deeply honored to have participated in a constructive and meaningful discussion with Representative Bill Huizenga, Co-Chair of the Congressional Burma Caucus from Michigan. The dialogue provided an invaluable opportunity to address five critical strategic areas: political transformation, military accountability, socio-economic development, governance, and geopolitical stability," stated the Union Minister.

During the discussion, there was a particular focus on the implementation of the US NDAA Burma Act and UN Security Council Resolution No. 2669 regarding Myanmar. Dr. Sasa expressed hopes to work closely with US representatives to translate such discussions into impactful actions.

Additionally, Dr. Sasa shared that he had a discussion on Myanmar’s affairs with Dr. Hryhoriy, the Deputy Chair of Ukraine's Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee.

"The year 2025 is a pivotal one for both Myanmar and Ukraine. As nations, we are determined to endure and overcome profound pain, suffering, and destruction by upholding and sharing our democratic principles and core values," Dr. Sasa remarked.

He concluded with a call for collective efforts: "Let us unite and push forward this year to build a peaceful, prosperous, and democratic future."

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 2. NUG Human Rights Minister Sends Best Wishes to Myanmar Women’s League on Its 30th Anniversary

On January 8, U Aung Myo Min, Minister of Human Rights under the National Unity Government (NUG), extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Myanmar Women’s League on its 30th anniversary.

“I received an invitation to the 30th Anniversary Commemoration of the Myanmar Women’s League, marking the Pearl Jubilee. Although I couldn’t attend in person, I want to express my respect and admiration for all the sisters, past and present, who have contributed to sustaining the league over these three decades.

As someone who has actively supported and encouraged the emergence of such a women’s organization, I feel a deep connection to this league. Being part of its historical journey fills me with gratitude and pride. I wish for even greater success for the Myanmar Women’s League moving forward,” said the minister.

He further emphasized the league’s accomplishments, noting that it has not only stood the test of time for 30 years but has also worked collectively to empower women’s involvement in politics, peace processes, and leadership roles. “This demonstrates the remarkable capability of the organization,” the minister added.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 3. 1,781 Women and 2,236 Minors Killed by the Military Junta

A total of 1,781 women and 2,236 minors, including 956 children, have been killed by Myanmar’s military junta since it unlawfully seized power in 2021, according to a statement made during a press briefing by U Nay Phone Latt, spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, on January 8.

The data, compiled by government departments, covers the period from the junta's coup in 2021 through November 2024.

Furthermore, the spokesperson urged junta-affiliated soldiers to defect and join the people's side.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 4. Karenni Region Recruiting Healthcare Workers

January 8

On January 8, the Ministry of Health under the National Unity Government (NUG) announced the recruitment of healthcare workers to serve in hospitals and clinics in the Karenni region.

According to the announcement, applications are being accepted for various positions, including specialist doctors (from any medical field) and general practitioners. Applicants must be Myanmar nationals in good health and, if currently civil servants, should be part of the CDM (Civil Disobedience Movement) and have no ties to the military junta.

Successful candidates must be willing to serve in the locations assigned by the Karenni Interim Executive Council (IEC) and the Ministry of Health.

Applications can be submitted daily without holidays, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, through the Ministry of Health's Telegram Account: https://t.me/HR_MOHNUG or Telegram Username: @HR_MOHNUG. The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2025.
