๐ฉ๐ฉ 1. DKBA Orders All Chinese Nationals Operating Scam Businesses in Phop Phra to Leave
February 9, Radio NUG
The Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA) has issued an official directive requiring all Chinese nationals operating casinos, gambling venues, and gaming centers in Phop Phra, a town along the Thai-Myanmar border, to vacate the area by February 28.
Furthermore, the DKBA announced that it would enforce strict measures to prevent unauthorized re-entry by Chinese nationals.
This announcement follows Thailand's decision on February 5 to halt the supply of electricity and fuel to border towns, including Phop Phra, in an effort to combat scam operations.
Due to the power outages, local residents have suffered socio-economic hardships. In response, the DKBA stated it will continue efforts to prevent illegal financial operations from taking root in the town.
However, some locals claim that before international attention turned to these scams, DKBA leaders themselves had granted residence and operational permits to Chinese nationals in exchange for financial compensation.
