The Arakan Army (AA) and allied resistance forces have launched an attack on the Myanmar military council’s Artillery Battalion No. 344 in Yekyi Township, Ayeyarwady Region, while intense clashes are also reported in Shwe Thaung Yan and Thabaung Townships, according to People Spring.

The resistance forces are carrying out a close-range assault on the military council’s Artillery Battalion No. 344, based in Myauk San Village, Yekyi Township. The junta is responding with heavy artillery and deploying mechanized paratroopers for reinforcement, reports say.

Allied resistance forces had already launched attacks on several military outposts along the Gwa-Ngathaingchaung road, including the junta's checkpoint at Vedaw Gate, in December. The latest offensive is now targeting the artillery battalion in Yekyi.

Reports indicate that resistance forces have successfully shot down a mechanized paratrooper aircraft belonging to the junta, though details remain unverified.
