๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. At least six junta soldiers killed in an ambush along Koe Pin-Tharya Road in Sinbaungwe Township

February 20

At least six junta soldiers were killed, and more than ten others were injured when the junta troops and Pyu Saw Htee militias advancing on foot along the Koe Pin-Tharya Road in Sinbaungwe Township, Magway Region, were ambushed with landmines, according to Battalion 1 of Thayet District.

The junta’s military column, consisting of around 90 troops, including Pyu Saw Htee militias under the command of Military Division 88, had been advancing along the Koe Pin-Tharya Road in Sinbaungwe Township since February 10 for a seven-day-long clearance operation, the battalion reported.

Led by Lieutenant Colonel Aung Zaw Phyo, the junta column attempted to clear territory from Koe Pin village to Ban Kone village. In response, the revolutionary forces attacked the column with two landmines between Wazin Myoung and Kyet Moe Hnout villages.

At least six junta troops were killed, and over ten were injured in the attack, forcing the junta forces to retreat toward Sinbaungwe town.

Although revolutionary forces sustained no casualties, the junta troops, in retaliation, shelled and burned down two civilian houses and two huts near the ambush site using firearms and 40mm grenades, according to Battalion 1 of Thayet District.

The junta’s foot patrol operation was conducted jointly by Battalion 1 of Thayet District, Naypyidaw Battalion 902, and Naypyidaw Battalion 804.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Junta airstrike on Naung Cho kills three civilians, injures four

February 20

A junta airstrike on Naung Cho town, located in Military Region 2 of the Ta'ang region, killed three civilians and injured four others, according to the PSLF/TNLA Information and Public Relations Department’s announcement on February 20.

At around 8:13 PM on February 19, two bombs were dropped on the station ward and the public hospital in Naung Cho.

The bombing resulted in the deaths of two civilians in the station ward and injured three others, while another civilian was killed at the public hospital, and one more was injured, according to the report.

Despite peace talks between the TNLA and the junta in Kunming, China, on February 16 and 17, mediated by the Chinese government, the discussions did not yield any agreement. Just hours after the announcement of the failed negotiations, the junta carried out the airstrike on a TNLA-controlled area.

During the two-day negotiations, the TNLA proposed a ceasefire, halting military offensives, drone attacks, heavy artillery strikes, and airstrikes, as well as allowing civilians to transport food and medicine freely within the territories controlled by both sides. However, due to significant challenges, no agreement was reached, TNLA stated on the evening of February 19.

The TNLA warned that the junta is deliberately targeting civilians with airstrikes rather than engaging in direct combat. It urged residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from aerial attacks.

Earlier on February 6, the junta also carried out an airstrike on the Taung Baw Mountain Pagoda in Naung Cho, injuring a civilian, according to PSLF/TNLA reports.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ Intensified Clashes Possible on Ye-Mawlamyine Highway, Warns Ye Bilu Leader

February 20

The leader of the Ye Bilu group has issued a warning that intense clashes could erupt along the Ye-Mawlamyine Highway in Mon State.

This warning follows an attack by the Ye Bilu forces on a junta military unit stationed in Kon Du Village, Ye Township. Reports indicate that the attack resulted in casualties on the junta’s side, prompting the Ye Bilu leader to caution civilians about the escalating situation.

Clashes reportedly began on February 19, after junta forces occupied areas near Kon Du Village, a section of the Ye-Mawlamyine Highway that had previously been under the control of revolutionary forces.

The junta has deployed infantry and rapid-response battalions, including Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 19, Infantry Battalion (IB) 586, and LIB 106, to Kon Du Village’s Betel Nut Pagoda Hill area. In response, the Ye Bilu forces' Battalion 2, ground assault units, and drone strike teams launched an attack on February 19, according to the Ye Bilu leader.

Given the escalating clashes along the Ye-Mawlamyine Highway, travelers have been urged to exercise caution, particularly in areas occupied by junta troops.

On February 5, Ye Bilu forces also attacked a junta checkpoint near the bridge between Kon Du and Hnin Sone villages. That assault reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least five junta soldiers, according to a statement from the New Mon State Party - Anti-Dictatorship (NMSP-AD) forces.
