The attack was confirmed by Battalion 3802, Subdivision 2 of Tharyarwady District.
At approximately 8:10 AM on February 24, Than Oo, the administrator of Hmaw Inn Village Tract in Letpandan Township, who also served as a Pyu Saw Htee leader, was traveling by motorcycle along with a Pyu Saw Htee member and a ward administrator. When they reached Hlu Sin Kone Junction, they were ambushed and attacked by members of Battalion 3802, Subdivisions 2 and 3. Than Oo was struck by 12 bullets and died instantly.
Following the attack, the Pyu Saw Htee member and the ward administrator managed to escape. Seized from Than Oo’s possession were two hand grenades, 100,000 kyats in cash, a motorcycle, two official stamps, two identification cards, and various documents, including military conscription lists.
Than Oo was a key leader of the junta-backed Pyu Saw Htee militia. He was notorious for pressuring young men into military service, forcibly extorting money from civilians under the guise of military conscription fees, and coordinating arrests of those unable to pay. He also wielded junta-issued firearms and hand grenades to threaten civilians and extort money for various reasons. Due to his oppressive actions, he was targeted and eliminated.
