๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. NLD Announces Formation of Justice Seeking Committee to Exonerate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Former President U Htin Kyaw from Argentina Court’s Arrest Warrant

February 27

The National League for Democracy (NLD) announced today, February 27, that it will establish a Justice Seeking Committee for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and U Htin Kyaw to address their inclusion in the arrest warrant issued by an Argentine court.

The Central Executive Committee of the NLD stated that the Justice Seeking Committee for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and U Htin Kyaw would work towards securing justice for the two civilian leaders. The committee will collaborate with like-minded individuals and organizations to achieve its objectives.

On February 13, an Argentine court issued an arrest warrant for 25 individuals, including Myanmar's military leader Min Aung Hlaing, 22 other military officials, former President U Htin Kyaw, and former State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, in connection with crimes committed against the Rohingya in northern Rakhine State in 2017.

The NLD pointed out in its statement that, as an elected civilian government operating under the 2008 Constitution, the government led by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and U Htin Kyaw was required to abide by constitutional constraints. Therefore, holding them accountable for the systematic atrocities committed by the military obscures the responsibility of the actual perpetrators—the military leaders.

The NLD also criticized the Argentine court's decision to issue the arrest warrants without thoroughly examining the role and structure of Myanmar’s military within the country’s governance system. The party warned that such actions could undermine the impartiality and credibility of judicial proceedings intended to ensure justice for victims.

As a result, the NLD is urging the Argentine court to reassess its decision regarding the arrest warrants for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and U Htin Kyaw.

Similarly, the National Unity Government (NUG) had already petitioned the Argentine court on February 18 to remove the two civilian leaders from the list of accused individuals. The NUG argues that including them alongside military leaders like Min Aung Hlaing constitutes a wrongful indictment and has called for their names to be withdrawn from the legal proceedings.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 2. Military Junta Spying on Resistance Forces Using Recycled Phone Numbers and Fake App Accounts

February 27

The military junta is reportedly using old phone numbers previously associated with resistance groups to create new accounts on Telegram, Signal, and Viber to spy on and deceive the resistance, according to a PVTV report.

Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the National Unity Government, Daw Zin Mar Aung, also issued a warning today about the potential misuse of former phone numbers.

"I was alerted by a friend that an old phone number I once used is now being used under my name to operate a Telegram account. I want to clarify that I do not use Telegram. If anyone contacts you from that number claiming to be me (Zin Mar Aung), please be cautious," she stated.

Similarly, U Nay Phone Latt, spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office of the NUG, revealed that a Viber account had been opened using his old phone number.

"A few friends have informed me that my old number is now associated with a Viber account. I am not using any domestic phone number for any applications. Resistance members should be cautious when making calls or using applications with local numbers. If you receive a message or call from an old domestic number, do not trust it immediately—verify it directly with the individual concerned," U Nay Phone Latt advised.

Since the military coup in February 2021, international telecom companies such as Telenor and Ooredoo have exited Myanmar. Norway-based Telenor sold its operations to Shwe Byain Phyu, a company linked to the junta, which later rebranded the telecom service as Atom. Likewise, Qatar-based Ooredoo sold its Myanmar operations to Nine Communications, a local company with alleged ties to military-affiliated business entities.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 3. KIA and Allied Forces Conduct Advanced Training for Personnel in Newly Seized Territories

February 27

The Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) is conducting advanced training courses for personnel to serve in territories recently captured by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and its allied forces, according to a statement from the KIO/KIA Information Department on February 26.

On February 26, the 15th Immigration Training Course graduation ceremony, organized by the KIO’s Immigration Department, was held in Laiza.

With the increasing number of territories seized by KIA and allied forces during the ongoing revolution, the KIO government has been expanding training programs across various departments to ensure effective governance in these areas. Young individuals interested in public service are being encouraged to participate in these courses.

The 15th Immigration Training Course commenced in November 2024, and 160 trainees from various KIA battalions have now graduated, receiving certifications and assignments. The 16th training course is set to open later this year, and young people are being encouraged to enroll.

Since October 2023, KIA and its allied forces have launched coordinated offensives against junta positions, capturing numerous military bases and administrative territories. By early March 2024, they intensified their offensives, successfully seizing more than 15 towns and hundreds of military bases within a year.

Currently, KIA and allied forces are engaged in operations to fully capture Bhamo, the second-largest city in Kachin State. According to military sources, they have already overrun key junta bases, including the headquarters of the 21st Military Operations Command, and are working toward securing total control of the city.
