February 5

In Sagaing Region, near the Chaung-U-Mingin road, revolutionary forces conducted a drone bombing and mine attack on a convoy of military vehicles, killing 9 junta soldiers, according to the No. 12 Battalion, Sub-battalion 3, Monwya District.

On February 3, around 2:30 PM, a convoy of five armored vehicles from the North-Western Regional Command, stationed in Monywa, was attacked by resistance forces with mines along their route. Out of the five vehicles, three hit the minefield, with one at the rear sustaining significant damage, causing it to stop abruptly and injure three soldiers.

After the mine attack, junta forces blocked roads and interrogated travelers near the Ngwe Kabar Min fuel station. The soldiers, using civilian vehicles as shields, proceeded on foot along the Chaung-U-Mingin route.

Around 3 PM, while temporarily stationed near the old Than Lwin Myanmar fuel station, resistance forces conducted two successive drone bombing runs, dropping a total of eight bombs, killing five soldiers and injuring two others.

Later, as the convoy withdrew toward the military checkpoint at the Monywa-Pakokku-Mandalay junction near the entrance to Chaung-U, resistance forces launched another drone bombing attack around 5 PM, dropping six more bombs and killing four additional soldiers.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Singaporean Company Supports Myanmar Junta's Domestic Fuel Production amid Import Challenges

February 5

Justice for Myanmar (JFM) has revealed that a Singapore-based company is supporting the Myanmar military junta’s domestic fuel production amid difficulties importing fuel from abroad.

According to JFM’s report, Interra Resources, through its joint venture Goldpetrol, has been a critical partner in sustaining the junta's fuel production supply chain.

Following the military coup in 2021, the junta faced increasing challenges in fuel imports due to international sanctions, a declining kyat, and restrictions on certain domestic banks and aviation fuel supply chains. Despite these obstacles, Interra Resources' support has enabled the junta to continue its military operations, including violent offensives.

Goldpetrol, established in 1996, operates in Myanmar's central Magway Region, spanning about 1,800 square kilometers in Chauk and Yenangyaung. The company reportedly produced over 850,000 barrels of crude oil in 2022, accounting for 40% of total production for that year, according to junta reports.

Key facilities under the junta’s control include the Thanlyin No. 1 Refinery, Chauk No. 2 Refinery, and the Man Thanpyaykan Petrochemical Complex (TBGN). These facilities, including the Man Refinery, are capable of producing various types of fuels, including aviation fuel, according to junta-controlled sources.

The Man Refinery is strategically located on the banks of the Irrawaddy River. Crude oil extracted by Goldpetrol from Chauk and Yenangyaung is transported via tankers along the river for processing at the refinery.

JFM cited credible sources indicating that the primary consumer of fuel processed at the Man Refinery is the junta’s central military headquarters. The refinery is also situated near the Tatmadaw's No. 13 Defense Manufacturing Facility (Ka Pa Sa-13), which produces explosives and propellants.

This strategic relationship between Interra Resources and the junta underscores the critical role of Goldpetrol in sustaining the junta's military capabilities.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. Military Junta Attempts to Abduct Youths and Loots Public Property in Kyaukpadaung Township

February 5

According to a statement released today, February 5, by BTZM GBK PDF based in Bago Yoma, the military junta, in an effort to abduct young people, has stolen gold, money, and valuables owned by civilians in Kyaukpadaung Township, Tharrawaddy District, in western Bago Region.

On the morning of January 2, around 50 armed personnel, including junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee militia members, reportedly entered Kwin Chaung Village in Kyaukpadaung Township, intending to abduct youths from the village group of Kyun Taw Su.

The junta troops' efforts to forcefully conscript local youths for military service caused residents of Kyun Taw Su Village to flee for safety. Taking advantage of the villagers' absence, junta forces broke into civilian homes and looted gold, money, and valuable possessions.

Following this raid, the junta forces moved to Mi Kauk Pin Village in the neighboring Zee Kone Township on January 3, allegedly with similar intentions to abduct youths.

While moving towards Mi Kauk Pin, the junta column was ambushed by the Revolutionary Joint Forces, comprising YOMA GBK PDF Battalion 3801, Dragon Brothers GBK PDF Battalion 3802, and BTZM GBK PDF from the Bago Yoma.

During the attack, some junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee militia members were reportedly injured, though the full extent of casualties is still under investigation, according to BTZM GBK PDF.
