๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 2. Fraud Syndicates Supporting SAC’s Revenue Sources While Threatening Myanmar People and Regional Nations, NUG Presidential Office Claims

Date: February 4

Fraud syndicates have been supporting the revenue channels of the terrorist State Administration Council (SAC) while posing significant threats to the people of Myanmar and neighboring countries, U Kyaw Zaw, spokesperson for the NUG Presidential Office, stated during a press briefing on February 4.

"Online financial fraud syndicates have become modern-day criminal enterprises engaging in forced labor, human trafficking, brutal exploitation, and other heinous crimes. These syndicates not only support the SAC’s revenue streams but also severely threaten the people of Myanmar and neighboring nations," U Kyaw Zaw remarked.

He highlighted that as of 2024, after four years of the SAC's rule, Myanmar has become the world's number one hub for money laundering and drug trafficking. The conflict between these fraud syndicates and the Nway Oo Revolution reflects a fundamental ideological divide between authoritarianism and the pursuit of freedom, justice, and equality.

The NUG’s goal is to dismantle the authoritarian regime and establish a peaceful federal democracy.

According to UN estimates, over 120,000 individuals are forced into illegal operations within fraud syndicates in Myanmar. Many Myanmar nationals are trapped in exploitative environments, with tens of thousands subjected to forced labor. The public was urged to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to deceptive job offers from online fraud syndicates.

The Southeast Asia-based human rights organization Fortify Rights urged ICC member states on February 4 to transfer and investigate war crimes committed by SAC troops in See Pa Village, Budalin Township, Sagaing Region.

The statement highlighted the brutal killing of six civilians on October 17, 2024, as part of a targeted psychological operation by SAC forces. The identified victims include U Tin Hlaing, approximately 80 years old, U Thet Aung (42), U Kyaw Poe (57), U Yar Sein, and U Thein Lwin, all from See Pa village. Another unidentified body was also found, according to the report.

Sai Arkar, Fortify Rights’ Human Rights Investigator, stated, "ICC member states must act immediately to end the daily atrocities occurring in Myanmar."

The report included photographs showing the charred and mutilated bodies of the victims, emphasizing that these acts of intimidation, forced displacement, and suppression violate international laws on war crimes.
