The Ministry of Human Rights of the National Unity Government announced on March 17 that the military junta has killed 372 children in 2,190 airstrikes on civilian areas between 2023 and March 16, 2025. The Ministry condemns these attacks on civilians and the killing of children as flagrant violations of international humanitarian law, particularly concerning the protection of children in armed conflict. These actions violate protections for children in armed conflict, specifically constituting the killing and maiming of children, a serious violation. The statement calls upon nations upholding human and children's rights to employ international human rights and judicial mechanisms for immediate and effective action against the military junta, which deliberately disregards international human rights law, international humanitarian law, and international standards and treaties safeguarding children.

2. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the National Unity Government issued a statement on March 19, regarding the increasing violence against the Myanmar people by the military junta. The statement urged ASEAN to move beyond the five-point consensus and take concrete steps to support a Myanmar-owned and led process reflecting the aspirations of the Myanmar people, given the military junta's escalating violence. The statement emphasized that restoring legitimate democratic institutions is crucial for lasting peace and stability. As chair, Malaysia must lead ASEAN in upholding its human rights and security commitments by taking decisive action to address the Myanmar conflict stemming from the illegal military coup and ongoing violence. The Myanmar people face immense suffering, demanding urgent intervention. Recent junta attacks, such as the Naung Cho monastery airstrike and village destruction, have displaced communities and devastated vital infrastructure such as schools and hospitals.

3. The National Unity Government has warned that it will unconditionally suspend all illegal investment projects approved by the military junta's investment commission (MIC). According to spokesperson U Kyaw Zaw at a recent press briefing, the NUG will only recognize pre-coup treaties and agreements, and he urged investors to cease seeking MIC permits and immediately halt current projects.
