๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. NUG Defense Minister: Special Focus on the Liberation of the Strategically Important Kabo Region

March 23

The National Unity Government (NUG) is prioritizing the liberation of the Kabo region, given its political, economic, and military significance, according to NUG’s Minister of Defense, U Yee Mon.

During the launch event of the "Kabo Nyi Naung Campaign," held on the night of March 22, Minister U Yee Mon reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the region's liberation.

Kabo is a plains region situated in the upper part of Sagaing, encompassing Kalay and Tamu Districts. According to the minister, apart from Kalay and Tamu towns, the rest of the region is under the control of the People's Defense Force (PDF). Due to its geographical location between the Chindwin River and the Indian border, the Kabo region holds critical strategic importance.

As a result, NUG’s Ministry of Defense - Military Region No. 1 has been prioritizing the region’s liberation, Minister U Yee Mon stated. While full military clearance operations have not yet been completed, local governance structures led by the people are already functioning, reinforcing the area as a military junta-free zone. He urged continuous efforts to solidify this progress.

At present, the junta’s forces are unable to travel freely between towns in the region and are relying solely on air transport for logistics, according to reports.

The Kabo Nyi Naung Project, which launched on March 22 and will run until April 20, aims to raise 100 million MMK in funds. Given that the initiative is being carried out collectively by 14 organizations, the public is encouraged to contribute as much as possible to support the effort.

Local police and military personnel are currently investigating the incident.
