March 11
Radio NUG
Justice For Myanmar has welcomed Switzerland’s decision to impose sanctions on Myanmar's state-controlled oil and gas enterprise, Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE).
According to the statement, these sanctions align with the European Union’s (EU) February 1, 2022, sanctions against MOGE.
Justice For Myanmar spokesperson Ma Yadanar Maung stated, "We welcome Switzerland’s decision to impose sanctions on MOGE in alignment with the EU. This move effectively closes a major loophole in the EU’s sanctions framework and sends a strong message of solidarity with the people of Myanmar, who have been resisting the brutal military regime for over four years."
The junta has been using its gas revenue to purchase weapons and aviation fuel for airstrikes against civilians, committing grave international crimes. Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia have also been urged to follow Switzerland’s lead and swiftly impose sanctions on MOGE.
