๐ฉ๐ฉ 1. Airstrikes by the Military on the Eastern Bank of the Sittaung River in Yedashe Township Injure a Monk
March 1
The Royal Lightning Column has reported that airstrikes carried out by the military on civilian-populated areas on the eastern bank of the Sittaung River in Yedashe Township, Bago Region, resulted in the destruction of homes and injuries to a monk.
On February 28, at around 11:45 AM, the military launched an airstrike on Pitaung Kone Village on the eastern bank of the river, despite the absence of any ongoing clashes. Later in the evening, at approximately 5:40 PM, another airstrike targeted Gu Gyi Village, dropping bombs on the area.
The attack on Pitaung Kone Village led to the destruction of five civilian houses due to fire, though no casualties were reported. In Gu Gyi Village, the airstrike set fire to a monastery, a Dhamma hall, and one civilian house, injuring a monk who, fortunately, is not in critical condition.
The Royal Lightning Column has warned civilians to remain vigilant as the military continues to intentionally target civilian areas. It also stated that while the Revolutionary Forces control the eastern bank of the Sittaung River, the western bank remains under military control. The military has been launching airstrikes on villages in the eastern bank as retaliation for guerrilla attacks conducted by Revolutionary Forces against military troops stationed on the western bank.
