1. The National Unity Government has requested international rescue teams to access all earthquake-affected areas needing urgent assistance, not just those areas designated by the military junta, said U Nay Phone Latt, spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office. He added that the military junta is blocking access to areas near revolutionary forces, such as Sagaing. We urge rescue teams to reach all earthquake-affected areas, including Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago regions, and southern Shan State, not just those receiving junta aid. The National Unity Government (NUG) is ready to cooperate and understands the need for international organizations to work with the military junta in providing aid and rescue the earthquake-affected people.

3. The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) issued a statement on April 2, condemning the military junta's recent airstrikes on earthquake-affected areas. Between March 28 and April 1, the junta launched 32 airstrikes on 11 areas, including Chaung-U Township in Sagaing Region and Singu Township in Mandalay Region, killing at least 50 civilians and injuring nearly 50 more. These attacks occurred after a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Sagaing Township on March 28, devastating the region and leaving thousands dead, injured, and homeless. While revolutionary forces have suspended offensives to provide relief, the junta has continued bombing civilian communities, including those impacted by the earthquake. The NUCC denounces this violence against civilians, especially earthquake victims, as unacceptable. The NUCC urges the international community to move beyond verbal condemnation and take concrete action to prevent further violence by the junta, particularly to stop airstrikes immediately.
