๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Junta Air Force Outpost in Insein Attacked with Grenades by Operation Flame

April 12

The resistance group Operation Flame (OF) reported that they carried out a grenade attack on the gate of a junta air force outpost located in Insein Township.

The attack occurred around 7:30 PM on April 11, targeting a military installation known as the Air Force Married Quarters Line Camp on Thiri Mingalar Road in Insein Township. Operation Flame stated that this attack was in response to ongoing junta airstrikes on civilian areas, including those already suffering from recent earthquake disasters.

Following the attack, military vehicles and ambulances were seen departing from the base, suggesting that junta personnel may have been injured, though Operation Flame indicated that further details are still being verified.

Operation Flame has previously claimed responsibility for:

  • An attack on the Mingaladon Regional Command Office on April 7,
  • Shwepyithar Police Station on March 3,
  • Hmawbi Police Battalion Office on February 23,
  • And Htautkyant Police Station on January 14.

The group affirmed their continued coordination with Yangon-based revolutionary allies and pledged to intensify attacks against the junta.

Although the junta had declared a temporary ceasefire from April 2 to 22, military records indicate that it has continued to conduct airstrikes in civilian-populated towns and villages, resulting in further casualties and deaths.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Junta Troops Flee from Alakkappa Village Base in Myaung Amid Public Exploitation and Earthquake Crisis

April 12

In the midst of a national earthquake crisis, junta forces stationed in Alakkappa Village, Myaung Township, Sagaing Region, have reportedly extorted money from civilians by constructing bunkers and blocking roads with military checkpoints while simultaneously charging unjust tolls from public transport vehicles.

On April 8 around 8 PM, a joint resistance force raided a junta base manned by around 20 troops located near Ko Su Pagoda, in the center of Alakkappa Village, following orders from the Sagaing District Command.

Caught off guard, the junta troops were only able to resist for about five minutes before fleeing the area with serious injuries, abandoning their bunkers.

Alakkappa Village lies on the main road connecting Monywa and Mandalay, with junta bases situated roughly one mile east and west of the village. Due to the darkness of night, the resistance did not pursue the fleeing troops but instead seized military supplies and burned down the bunkers.

The junta responded with indiscriminate shelling, injuring six civilians, including a two-year-old child who later died, according to the resistance group.

The attack was reportedly coordinated by:

  • Myaung City Revolutionary Force (M.C.R.F)
  • Sagaing District People’s Security Organization
  • Sagaing District Assault Unit
  • Myaung Township People’s Security Organization
  • Myaung Township People’s Defense Force
  • Black Eagle Defense Force (MMU)
  • Taw Chaung Oo Battalion of Pa Ka Pha
  • Myaung Lightning Guerrilla Force (M.L.G.F)

Resistance groups stated the attack was necessary due to the junta’s continued offensive operations, despite the National Unity Government’s (NUG) announcement of a temporary ceasefire to facilitate earthquake relief operations for affected communities across Myanmar.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 5. DPLF Conducts Public Awareness Activities on Explosive Remnants of War for Civilian Safety

April 12

The Danu People’s Liberation Front (DPLF) has announced that it has carried out public awareness activities concerning explosive remnants of war (ERW) in areas where the Danu People’s Liberation Army (DPLA) operates, in order to safeguard civilians residing in those regions.

According to the statement released on April 12, there have been civilian casualties, including children, resulting from contact with unexploded ordnance (UXO) in DPLA-controlled areas. These incidents occurred not during active combat but due to civilians unknowingly playing with or handling UXOs. Additionally, there has been a noticeable increase in civilian casualties and destruction of homes as a result of targeted airstrikes by the military junta, despite the absence of battles in those areas.

To mitigate such risks and losses, DPLF/DPLA has conducted awareness sessions, including informative talks and live demonstrations. Posters were also distributed to help disseminate safety knowledge. Moreover, the organization provided practical guidelines to help prevent future injuries or fatalities caused by explosive remnants of war.

DPLF/DPLA has strongly condemned the military junta for deliberately launching inhumane attacks on civilians at a time when the country is facing widespread suffering from natural disasters, particularly the recent earthquake.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 6. Administrative Officer Accused of Forcible Military Recruitment Fees Eliminated in Minhla

April 12

The People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Minhla Township, Thayarwady District, Western Bago Region, has announced that it has eliminated a village administrative officer who was extorting military recruitment fees from local residents.

The officer, Kyaw Hlaing, who led the administrative group of Thingatakun in Minhla Township, was eliminated around 2 PM on April 11 by a joint team comprising Company 3 of Battalion 3802 under Thayarwady District and the local People's Defense Team of Minhla. The operation took place west of Sikkwin Town.

Kyaw Hlaing, a former police officer and staunch informant of the junta, was reportedly involved in several oppressive acts: he provided intelligence about resistance forces to the junta military, forcibly collected monthly payments from locals under the guise of military recruitment fees, extorted excessive sums from individuals listed for conscription, and coerced youths into military service. These actions led to the decision to take direct action against him.

The local resistance forces have issued a warning to the public to avoid contact with junta-aligned forces and stay away from military bases or administrative offices, as intensified operations against junta informants and collaborators are expected to continue.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 9. Warning Issued Against Water Festival Celebrations in Kawthaung Amid Security Tensions

April 12

The local People's Defense Force (Pa Ka Pha) in Kawthaung Township, Tanintharyi Region, has issued a public notice on April 12, urging residents to refrain from participating in traditional Thingyan (Water Festival) celebrations.

The advisory urges parents, youth, and the general public to avoid alcohol consumption, loud music, dancing, and the construction of pavilions for Thingyan celebrations, citing concerns over public safety and potential clashes.

The statement warns that violations—such as intoxication, public disturbances, or street dancing—will be met with effective punitive measures.

This advisory follows a recent armed attack on a police vehicle returning from collecting protection money from businessmen in Aung Chan Thar Village. The ambush killed three police personnel, including two officers, and resulted in the seizure of firearms, ammunition, and money. The region remains tense, prompting the local resistance forces to issue this warning.
