๐๐ 3. USGS Issues Aftershock Forecast Through April 16
April 11
Radio NUG
According to an April 9 forecast by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), there is a 42% probability of an aftershock of magnitude greater than 5.0 occurring in the following week. Such an aftershock could potentially cause further damage and destruction, the forecast noted.
Additionally, up to 160 minor aftershocks of magnitude 3.0 or higher could occur during the same period. Although the frequency of these smaller tremors is expected to gradually decrease over time, the occurrence of a strong aftershock could temporarily lead to an increase in the number of smaller quakes, USGS explained.
At approximately 8:47 PM on April 11, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 on the Richter scale struck near Tatkon Township in Naypyidaw, with an estimated depth of 10 kilometers, according to reports.

๐๐ 4. IIMM Says Efforts Underway to Hold Perpetrators of Airstrikes Accountable
April 11
Radio NUG
The Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM) released a statement on April 11, noting that the Myanmar military junta has escalated the use of airstrikes this year, resulting in a rise in civilian deaths, destruction, and mass displacement. The IIMM stated that efforts are being made to hold accountable both those who ordered and those who carried out these attacks.
The junta’s airstrike campaigns reportedly intensified following the 2023 bombing of Pazigyi Village in Sagaing Region, which claimed the lives of at least 155 civilians.
Even after the recent earthquake, while rescue teams were actively searching for survivors, the military continued air assaults in Mandalay, Sagaing, and other regions, causing further civilian casualties.
The IIMM emphasized that civilians are not merely collateral victims of these attacks but are deliberately targeted. Bombings have struck schools, hospitals, clinics, refugee camps, religious sites including monasteries and temples, and even public gatherings such as music concerts.
These targeted attacks on civilians constitute war crimes or crimes against humanity, the IIMM asserted. It also confirmed that it is intensifying investigations to identify and bring primary perpetrators to justice.
According to Nicholas Koumjian, Head of the IIMM, “We are collecting and analyzing evidence about these brutal attacks in order to identify those who issued orders and those who carried them out. Our goal is to ensure that one day they will be held accountable in a court of law for the crimes they have committed.”
The statement further revealed that while the IIMM has repeatedly attempted to contact the military junta regarding these incidents, no responses have been received.

๐๐ 5. Minmu Township Authorities Urge Public to Refrain from Water Festivals and Loud Celebrations During Thingyan
April 11
Radio NUG
The Minmu Township Public Administration Team has issued a notice urging residents to refrain from building water festival stages, dancing, and using loud sound systems during the upcoming Thingyan (Myanmar New Year) celebrations.
This advisory comes in light of the ongoing airstrikes and offensives by the military junta, which continue to target civilians indiscriminately through unlawful and violent means. The notice also references the March 28 earthquake, which caused deaths and suffering, urging people to show compassion and exercise caution during this sensitive period.
The announcement warned that such festive activities could unintentionally endanger others, potentially resulting in loss of life and property within the township or local villages. As such, it appealed once again for residents to avoid any such celebratory actions.
These reports were provided by Khun Shel, a field correspondent for Radio NUG.
