๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. Cobra Artillery Unit Releases Record of Artillery Fire in Resistance Against Aung Zeya Military Column

The Cobra Artillery Unit has released records documenting its artillery fire in resistance against the Aung Zeya military column.

According to the statement issued on April 18, the unit shared some photographic evidence from the artillery strikes launched during April last year against the Aung Zeya military column.

The statement noted that it has now been exactly one year since the Cobra forces launched sustained resistance against the Aung Zeya military column—which had claimed it would seize control of Myawaddy within just three days.

Last year, the Cobra forces reportedly launched an intense counteroffensive against the Aung Zeya column, which had advanced from Kawkareik, using heavy artillery such as 120 mm, 81 mm, and 60 mm mortars.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Revolutionary Forces Attack Junta Checkpoint in Kam Maline Village, Tanintharyi Township—One Junta Soldier Confirmed Dead

According to confirmation from the People’s Defense Force (PDF/Pa Ka Pha) in Tanintharyi Township, revolutionary forces carried out an attack on the junta’s 558th Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) checkpoint located in Kam Maline Village, Tanintharyi Township, Myeik District.

The assault took place at approximately 8:30 AM on April 16. Both sides exchanged gunfire for around 20 minutes. It has been confirmed that one junta soldier was killed during the clash, and additional casualties or injuries were also reported on the junta side.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Junta Launches Airstrike on Matupi Town, Injuring Five Civilians Including a Pastor—Homes Damaged

According to The Matupi Times, the junta forces conducted an airstrike on Matupi Town in southern Chin State on April 17.

The attack occurred at around 2:00 PM, during which the junta’s air force dropped bombs on central Matupi once and on another nearby area twice without any justifiable reason.

The airstrike injured five civilians, including a pastor. Several residential homes were also damaged. Among the five injured, three were reported to be family members of the pastor.

"About five civilians were injured. Four of them are currently receiving emergency medical treatment. Three of the injured are members of the pastor’s family—namely the pastor himself, his wife, and his daughter. The pastor sustained serious injuries and lost one of his legs. The condition of all three is concerning," a source from The Matupi Times stated after follow-up inquiries.

As of now, the Matupi Township People’s Administration has not yet issued an official statement regarding the bombing. The Matupi Times reports that investigations into the extent of the damage to homes and injuries are ongoing.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. SAC Air Force Drops 500-Pound Bomb on Village School in Kyitaukpauk Village, Singu Township—Six Civilians Injured

A 500-pound bomb dropped by a jet fighter of the junta’s air force struck a school in Kyitaukpauk Village, Singu Township, resulting in injuries to six civilians—four men and two women.

The airstrike took place in the afternoon of April 18 and was carried out by a jet fighter under the control of the junta’s Meiktila-based air force. The bomb directly hit the school compound.

As a result of the airstrike, six civilians were injured and three school buildings were destroyed.

In response, the Pa Ka Pha of Pyin Oo Lwin District issued a public warning urging civilians to keep their distance from junta bases and to construct shelters or bunkers for protection against air attacks.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 5. Military Airstrike on Laik Kyay Village in Thapyaykyin Kills Around 13 Civilians, Including Children

At approximately 11:00 AM on April 18, the military council carried out an aerial bombardment targeting Laik Kyay Village, located near the Kyin Thone Hse Road Junction in Thapyaykyin Township. According to local sources, the attack killed no fewer than 13 civilians, including children, with many more injured.

“It was a direct strike on the junction. They came and bombed without warning — no one had time to escape. Three pedestrians were killed instantly at the scene. The bomb hit Aung Myint Moe’s motorcycle parts shop — the shop owner and his daughters were all killed. More than 20 others were injured,” a local eyewitness told Shwe Phi Myay.

Later in the evening, around 5:00 PM, the military launched a second bombing on the same area, but no casualties were reported.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 6. Three Rounds of Aerial Bombing on Balaba Village, Yesagyo Township – 80-Year-Old Civilian Killed After Losing His Leg

On April 17 at around 4:20 PM, the military council launched three aerial strikes using fighter jets on Balaba Village in Yesagyo Township without provocation, according to a statement by the Info Committee Yesagyo.

As a result of the unprovoked assault, U Aung Than, an 80-year-old resident, suffered a leg amputation due to the blast. He later died of blood loss in the early morning of April 18.

In addition, two other civilians were injured. One house was completely burned down, and nine others were damaged. A monastic dormitory, a generator facility, and several brick boundary walls were also reported to have sustained damage.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 7. Civilian Killed as Junta Jets Bomb Yae Twin Kone Village in Nyaunglebin, Followed by Artillery Shelling

On the morning of April 18, the military council carried out an airstrike using fighter jets on Yae Twin Kone Village in Nyaunglebin District, Bago Region, according to a statement from the Southern Regional Military Command, Division 2.

Following the airstrike, Battalion 264, based in Paing Zalote, fired five rounds of 120mm artillery shells into the village. One innocent civilian was reportedly killed as a result of these attacks.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 8. Female IDP Killed by Junta Artillery Near Moe Bye While Working in a Paddy Field

Between 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM on April 18, Infantry Battalion 422, based in Moe Bye, indiscriminately fired over ten artillery rounds into the Moe Bye area, as reported by KPN News.

A displaced woman working in a paddy field attempted to flee when the shelling began. However, she was struck near the waist while running past the field’s embankment. The shrapnel tore through her abdomen, and she died instantly at the scene.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 9. Three Military Personnel Defect from Junta Forces in Paekhon and Boke Pyin

On April 17, two junta soldiers from Paekhon’s Light Infantry Division 77—one junior officer and one private—defected and sought refuge with the public, according to the Lightning Guerrilla Force.

The two defectors, Junior Officer Phyo Thiha (Military ID: PS-137745) and Private Maung Thet (Military ID: PS-137826), had completed military training and were forcibly deployed to frontlines in northern Sagaing Region. When they arrived at Division 33 in Sagaing City on April 16, the day after Thingyan, they reached out for assistance and were successfully extracted by local revolutionary forces. On April 18, they were reunited with their families.

Similarly, one junta soldier from Light Infantry Battalion 224 based in Boke Pyin defected and surrendered without arms, according to a statement from KNLA Brigade 4, Battalion 203, Column 3 under the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA).

The defector, identified as Aung Ko Ko, escaped from Battalion 224 on April 16 and officially defected to the KNLA joint forces on April 17. He is originally from Tanintharyi Township and had served just one year in the military.
