The Ministry of Communications, Information, and Technology under the NUG has deployed these devices across areas in Sagaing, Magway, and Mandalay Regions, as well as in certain ethnic states, aiming to prevent internet blackouts.

Additionally, efforts have been made to provide access to the Federal Net internet network in 78 villages across 22 townships in Sagaing Region.

Currently, Federal Net is serving an estimated average of 123,000 daily users.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 3. Military Junta Continues Bombing Civilians Already Devastated by Earthquake, Says Ms. Yanghee Lee

Radio NUG

Ms. Yanghee Lee has condemned the military junta for continuing airstrikes against Myanmar civilians who are already suffering from severe devastation caused by recent earthquakes.

This statement was included in a publication by the Special Advisory Council for Myanmar (SAC-M) regarding the situation in Myanmar during the month of April.

“Compared to any period in Myanmar’s history, the current phase has seen the highest number of airstrikes by the military junta targeting civilians—including children. Even now, the junta continues to bomb those who have already been gravely affected by what is the most catastrophic earthquake to hit Myanmar in over a century,” the statement read.

Furthermore, SAC-M welcomed renewed international focus on Myanmar, as reflected in the 58th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council held earlier this month in Geneva on April 4.

ASEAN, the statement criticized, has completely failed in its efforts to promote peace and security in Myanmar and the region. It urged ASEAN to take the lead in coordinating a regional humanitarian response, together with countries like China, India, and Bangladesh, in collaboration with the NUG, ethnic organizations, and Myanmar’s civil society.

Such a response should include the delivery of cross-border humanitarian aid to severely affected communities, particularly those in territories outside the military’s control, said Mr. Marzuki Darusman.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 4. 21 civilians killed and 70 more unconfirmed deaths documented amid continued aerial bombardments by the military junta

According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), 21 civilians have been confirmed dead as a result of continuous aerial bombardments carried out by the military junta. Additionally, a separate list has been compiled documenting a further 70 civilian deaths that remain pending verification.

While the military regime attempts to project a positive image internationally by selectively releasing detainees, it has simultaneously continued carrying out extensive aerial attacks during the Myanmar New Year Thingyan period across multiple regions—including Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Tanintharyi, Kayin State, Rakhine State, and Chin State.

The AAPP confirmed the identities of 21 civilians who were killed due to these airstrikes and stated that they have also collected a separate list of 70 more civilian deaths that are yet to be officially confirmed.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 5. Earthquake damage disrupts junta's main servers and communication networks—underground communication hubs reportedly buried

April 21
Radio NUG

The powerful earthquake that struck on March 28 reportedly caused significant damage to the main servers and key communication infrastructure of the military junta, including the loss of underground communication departments stored in caves, according to PDF Insight, a group that monitors and analyzes military affairs.

“The massive earthquake that shook Sagaing on March 28 left the entire country in shock. In response, revolutionary forces, demonstrating humanity and moral discipline, immediately ceased all offensive operations. The junta, on the other hand, only declared a so-called ceasefire on April 2 for the sake of appearance at the BIMSTEC summit,” PDF Insight reported.

“In reality, airstrikes have continued across the country on a daily basis. Although the military has not publicly acknowledged it, internal sources indicate that the quake caused considerable disruption to its operations. Reports suggest that their main servers and communication lines—especially those under the command of the Central Command (K-Bell network)—were severely damaged. Some of their communications hubs stored inside Hlaing caves appear to have been buried. Fearing that the revolutionary forces might exploit this moment of vulnerability, the military has ramped up its bombing campaigns as a preemptive measure.”

PDF Insight further noted that strategic momentum has now shifted, with the military no longer holding the upper hand. The final phase of the armed struggle is now believed to rest in the hands of the National Unity Government (NUG) and Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs).
