๐ฉ๐ฉ 2. Two Soldiers Fleeing Military Convoy on Minhla-Pyay Highway Shot Dead After Attempting to Seize Weapon
April 23
Two soldiers from a military convoy that emerged onto the Minhla-Pyay highway in Minhla Township, located in the western part of Thayarwaddy District, were shot and killed after attempting to flee and seize a weapon, according to a statement issued on April 23 by Battalion 3802, Column 3 of the Thayarwaddy District Revolutionary Forces.
On March 30, around 5:00 p.m., the convoy was intercepted and attacked by revolutionary fighters. As a result, SAC troops reportedly retreated in disarray toward the villages of Phaya Phaya and San Boat.
Amid the chaotic retreat, two remaining soldiers returned to the area near Kyun Kone Village around 5:00 a.m. on March 31, reportedly in search of mobile phones left behind during their escape. They were captured by revolutionary forces.
The captured soldiers were interrogated and were being transported to a rear base for detention in accordance with the Geneva Conventions. However, during transport, they allegedly attempted to seize a firearm and escape, prompting the revolutionary fighters to open fire. Both were fatally shot, the statement said.
The announcement noted that the attack on the SAC convoy coincided with a time when civilians in the region were already suffering due to recent earthquakes. This, it added, was why the news was only being released now.
On April 22, clashes also occurred between junta troops and revolutionary forces in Minhla Township. During the skirmishes, junta aircraft reportedly bombarded areas suspected of harboring resistance forces, including civilian villages.

April 23
Despite publicly declaring a ceasefire until the end of April, SAC (State Administration Council) forces launched a heavy artillery assault on the headquarters area of the Pa-O National Liberation Organization (PNLO), according to reports.
On April 22, between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., without any prior military engagement or provocation, SAC forces fired heavy weapons into villages located within the PNLO headquarters area, including Naung Htaung Village.
The attack involved more than ten rounds of artillery fire, launched using “Howitzer” heavy guns, from SAC forces and their aligned PNO (Pa-O National Organization) militia units, which were stationed near Lwel Hkyel Monastery and Naung Kyaw Village.
The shelling damaged civilian homes, and reports indicate that this is not the first such attack on the PNLO headquarters area—SAC forces had previously launched assaults using both heavy artillery and fighter jets.

๐ฉ๐ฉ 5. Two Newly-Deployed SAC Soldiers Defect to KNDF with Weapons After Being Forced into Conscription
April 23
The Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF) announced today, April 23, that two newly recruited soldiers of the military junta (SAC), who were forcibly conscripted and sent to the frontlines, have defected to KNDF, bringing their weapons and ammunition with them.
According to the statement, the two defectors were trainees from Week 7 of the military training program. They escaped with weapons on April 20, before being deployed to the frontlines in Demoso Township under Light Infantry Battalion 9.
KNDF confirmed that the two new recruits brought with them one MA-1 rifle and one MA-2 rifle.
The KNDF further stated that the defectors were rewarded and are now being safely and properly sheltered.
It was also noted that the military junta, weakened in manpower, has been enforcing mandatory conscription of civilians under the Military Service Law announced on February 10, 2024. Civilians are being forcibly enlisted and sent immediately to the frontlines after undergoing basic training.
KNDF urges civilians to remain vigilant and take precautions against these forced conscription practices. In the event of being forcibly taken, individuals are encouraged to remember essential contact information and reach out to nearby revolutionary organizations as soon as possible.
