๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 1. Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun Addresses SAC Attack on Ohtein Twin Village School in the UN Development Forum

May 13

Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, addressed the international community regarding the airstrike carried out by the military junta (SAC) on the school in Ohtein Twin Village, Depayin Township, Sagaing Region, during discussions held at the UN Development Forum.

Speaking at the session focused on the implementation of 16 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly in connection with peace, justice, and strengthening institutions involved in sustainable development—Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun stated:

“The military junta’s indiscriminate daily airstrikes and bombings have resulted in severe civilian casualties and the destruction of essential infrastructure. This has had a particularly devastating impact on schools and hospitals—institutions that are vital to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
On the morning of March 12, the junta launched an aerial attack on a school in Ohtein Twin Village, Depayin Township, Sagaing Region. As a result, two female teachers and approximately 20 children were killed, and many others were injured.
This incident is not an isolated one. Moreover, Sagaing Region is among the areas most severely affected by the magnitude 7.7 earthquake that occurred over a month ago."

Ambassador Kyaw Moe Tun further stated:

“Some countries are continuing to provide support to the military junta—whether in terms of material resources or moral and political backing. Such support enables the junta to carry out its brutal campaigns, including the killing of civilians and children.”

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 4. Aerial attack on a school in Ohtain Twin Village, Depeyin Township, constitutes an unforgivable act of terrorism, says Ko Htein Lin, youngest son of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi

May 13

Ko Htein Lin, the youngest son of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, has denounced the aerial attack on a school in Ohtain Twin Village, Depeyin Township, Sagaing Region, as an “unforgivable act of terrorism.”

He stated:

“It is deeply saddening that the military carried out a brutal aerial bombardment targeting a school in Sagaing Region, resulting in the deaths and injuries of unarmed schoolchildren and teachers. Words are insufficient to express the suffering endured by the families of the victims. Deliberately targeting a school attended by innocent children is a cruel, unlawful, and unforgivable act of terrorism. I stand in deep sympathy with the children who lost their lives, the teachers who were injured, and all those affected.”

Ko Htein Lin also issued a statement expressing his grief and solidarity with the people of Myanmar during this painful time.
