๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 2. Military airstrike on a village school in Ohtaintwin, Depayin – U Min Ko Naing says junta is trying to cover up the atrocity via MRTV and Myawaddy

May 15
Radio NUG

U Min Ko Naing stated that the Myanmar military’s airstrike on a school in Ohtaintwin Village, Depayin, is being deceitfully covered up by state-run MRTV and Myawaddy TV, making it seem as if nothing happened.

He said:

“Images of the teacher and schoolchildren who were victims of the bombing shocked the public. People were horrified, terrified, and outraged. That was the moment the fascist military realized their crime had reached global attention and diplomatic communities—so they immediately shifted to a new kind of fearful deception. It’s not that they’re trying to protect their reputation—they’ve already been exposed. Instead, they started claiming the images were fabricated. This shows that MRTV and Myawaddy are just trying to cover things up, plain and simple.”

He continued:

“They claim the PDFs were testing weapons and the blast was accidental—what a calculated and malicious lie. Put simply, it’s disgusting behavior. And they try to sell this lie to every audience, including international media and lobbying groups. They are launching a psychological manipulation campaign. At the same time, they’ve just dropped more bombs on civilian areas—again in Rakhine. It’s clear what’s happening: they commit heinous crimes and then try to shift the blame onto others.”

Radio NUG

Eyewitnesses and those with direct knowledge of the airstrike on a school in Ohtaintwin Village, Depayin Township, Sagaing Region, are being urged to contact the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM) and provide evidence.

According to IIMM:

“On Monday, May 12, a school located in Ohtaintwin Village, Sagaing Region, was attacked via airstrike. The Mechanism is calling on those who witnessed or have direct knowledge of the event to come forward with any evidence. More than 20 students were killed, and dozens were injured.”

The IIMM noted that this airstrike was one of several conducted in the aftermath of the powerful recent earthquake. It was carried out during a period when the junta had claimed to suspend offensive military operations.

The Mechanism emphasized that indiscriminate airstrikes on civilians may constitute war crimes or crimes against humanity. Targeting children in particular is deeply shocking and appalling. Therefore, the Mechanism stated that it is prioritizing investigations into crimes involving harm to children.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 4. People’s Defense Forces’ community engagement is key to the Spring Revolution’s success

May 15
Radio NUG

The People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) are not only playing a role on the battlefield, but are also deeply engaging with communities, which is essential for the success of the Spring Revolution, according to statements from the PDF’s communications channel.

The statement noted that the success of a revolution does not rest solely on military strength—it fundamentally depends on public support, trust, and active participation. Thus, PDFs are not only involved in armed resistance but are also entering local communities to share knowledge about the revolution, boost morale, and build unity in opposition to military dictatorship.

The central tenet of the people’s war strategy is “revolution with the people.” To that end, PDFs are continually engaging with the public, explaining the goals of the revolution, the policies of the National Unity Government (NUG), and exposing the weaknesses of the military junta, thereby earning public trust.

At the township level, PDF representatives are meeting with the public at least four times per month to listen to concerns and address them. They are also regularly interacting with local civil society leaders, religious figures, and other influential community members, building localized trust. In particular, in areas with ethnic and religious minorities, the PDFs are holding regular dialogue with community leaders, promoting inclusive policies that respect equality, self-determination, and diversity.

To ensure the success of the revolution, PDFs must systematically carry out community mobilization in accordance with the NUG and Ministry of Defense’s policies, code of conduct, and laws. The ongoing unity and trust of the public, along with the structured mobilization efforts of the PDFs, are fundamental pillars supporting the success of the Spring Revolution.

๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ 7. Protest Held in Yangon Depicting Junta’s Targeted Attacks on Schools

May 15
Radio NUG

The Yangon Revolutionary Force (YRF) staged a protest performance in Yangon to condemn and raise awareness about the Myanmar military junta’s repeated airstrikes on children’s schools.

The protest was in response to a tragic incident on May 12, when the junta carried out an aerial bombing on a school in Oatintwin Village, Depayin Township, Sagaing Region. The attack resulted in the deaths of 20 children and 2 female teachers, and caused numerous injuries.

As part of the protest, blood-stained school bags and children’s books were placed in downtown Yangon to visually symbolize the brutality and horror of the military’s actions. YRF stated that the Depayin incident has laid bare the junta’s heinous acts and deliberate targeting of civilians.

According to YRF, the purpose of this protest is to document and expose the junta’s inhumane acts, including genocidal violence and war crimes, and to bring global attention to the ongoing deliberate airstrike campaigns targeting schools and children.
