๐๐ 1. Acting President Urges Myanmar Workers and All Ethnic Peoples at Home and Abroad to Continue Participating in the Revolution by All Possible Means to Expedite the Success of the Spring Revolution
May 1
On the occasion of International Workers’ Day (May Day) 2025, the Acting President of the National Unity Government (NUG), Duwa Lashi La, issued a message to the workers of Myanmar, stating:
"Since the military junta's violent coup on February 1, 2021, fundamental labor rights and human rights in Myanmar have been severely eroded. The entire population—including ethnic peoples and workers—has been subjected to daily suffering in body and mind. These sufferings will only end when the dictatorship is decisively dismantled. Only then can we restore our lost basic rights, individual freedoms, and equality; only then can we rebuild our severely damaged country."
The Acting President therefore emphasized the urgent need for all segments of the population—including Myanmar workers both inside the country and abroad, as well as ethnic communities—to continue actively engaging in the revolutionary struggle through all means within their capacity, in order to hasten the success and conclusion of the Spring Revolution.
Furthermore, the Acting President reiterated the NUG’s appeal to the United Nations (UN), the International Labour Organization (ILO), other international labor organizations, and governments that prioritize human and labor rights to provide concrete support and collaborate in practical efforts.

๐๐ 2. CRPH Pledges Efforts to Push for Effective Action Against the Military Junta at the 113th International Labour Conference in Geneva
May 1
The Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) announced that the National Unity Government (NUG), including the Ministry of Labour and other relevant departments, will work in coordination with appropriate organizations to push for effective action against the military junta under Article 33 of the International Labour Organization (ILO) during the upcoming 113th International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland, in 2025.
This pledge was made in a message marking International Workers’ Day on May 1.
CRPH stated that while countries around the world annually commemorate International Workers’ Day to honor the strength of workers’ solidarity, workers and ethnic civilians across Myanmar continue to endure the junta’s brutal actions, including airstrikes, arson attacks on civilian homes in both urban and rural areas, arbitrary arrests, torture, extrajudicial killings, and imprisonment.
The CRPH further emphasized that it is collaborating with international parliaments, governments, organizations, ethnic armed organizations, and all revolutionary forces sharing common objectives to ensure that the military dictatorship is brought to an end and that the junta and its affiliates are held accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed against the people of Myanmar.
To that end, CRPH reaffirmed its intention to pursue coordinated efforts during the 113th ILC, scheduled from June 2 to 13 in Geneva, to ensure effective enforcement of ILO Article 33 measures against the junta through collaboration between the NUG, its Ministry of Labour, and relevant international and regional bodies.
In addition, the CRPH pledged that in the future Federal Democratic Union, Myanmar will uphold international treaties and standards to ensure equality and improved livelihoods for all workers. It committed to enacting stronger labor laws and regulations that protect and empower the working class across all sectors.
Finally, on this year’s International Workers’ Day, the CRPH extended its wishes for workers and people across the world, including in Myanmar, to fully enjoy labor rights in line with international standards, and to remain safe from workplace hazards—living in good health and peace of mind.

๐๐ 4. Six Civil Society Organizations Emphasize That Only Through the Liberation of the Working Class and Ethnic Groups Can a Just and Inclusive Society Be Established
May 1
Six civil society organizations jointly declared that liberation of the working class and all ethnic nationalities is essential to eliminate discriminatory systems and build a just and equitable society.
This statement was issued on May 1, International Workers’ Day (also known as May Day), a day honoring the global labor movement and its contributions to the development of the industrialized world.
The announcement also paid tribute to both domestic and international laborers who are taking part in revolutionary movements and uprisings, highlighting their crucial role on the frontlines.
It noted that Myanmar’s labor force led the Hledan strike on February 6, 2021, and has continued to serve as a key pillar of the revolution alongside farmers and grassroots communities.
The statement also emphasized that while the military junta continues to deploy various tactics to dismantle this revolutionary base and suppress mass movements, the revolutionary forces must prioritize safeguarding their grassroots support and cultivating larger-scale public mobilization.
Additionally, the organizations urged that in the process of drafting state constitutions and reaching agreements at the federal level, it is essential to include the labor sector, ensure fundamental rights, reduce class-based disparities, and implement strong social protection policies.
They stressed that the role of laborers will be critical in shaping a future society characterized by economic development, social welfare, the end of oppression and conflict, and the consolidation of democracy.
The organizations affirmed their solidarity with laborers from various ethnic backgrounds who have continuously participated in the revolution.
This May Day statement was issued jointly by the Anti-Junta Mass Movement (AJMM), Blood Money Campaign (BMC), General Strike Committee (GSC), GSCN – Multiethnic Youth Alliance for Unity, Progressive Muslim Youth Association (PMYA), and Land In Our Hands (LIOH).
