๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 1. 62 Junta Troops Flee to Thailand Following Attack by Karen Revolutionary Forces

On May 23, 2025, a joint force led by the Karen National Union (KNU) seized control of the Baw Lay Doe military base on the Myanmar–Thailand border. The operation was carried out under the command of Colonel Dabo from the Southern Military Region’s Strategic Command (32), with combined participation from the KNLA, KNDO, and Cobra Column 2 VENOM.

As a result of the offensive, 62 junta troops fled across the border into Thailand. According to Khaosod news outlet, Thai authorities subsequently confiscated the weapons carried by the fleeing troops.

Among those who fled, 11 were reportedly injured, including four with serious injuries. According to their own accounts, 18 junta soldiers were killed during the attack.

During the seizure of the Baw Lay Doe base, the revolutionary forces reportedly captured more than 70 small arms, as well as ammunition and other military supplies. Cobra Column 2 VENOM has vowed to continue its military operations until the dictatorship is completely dismantled.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 2. Coordinated District-Level Offensive Launched on 12 Junta Outposts in Myingyan, Natogyi, Taungtha, and Nganzun Townships

On a coordinated scale, revolutionary forces launched simultaneous attacks on 12 military outposts of the junta across Myingyan District—including Myingyan, Natogyi, Taungtha, and Nganzun Townships—resulting in the deaths of no fewer than 50 junta forces, according to the 9/ Anyar Revolutionary Operation Command.

Beginning on May 15, the targets attacked included:

  • Myingyan Township: Seemee Khone police station, Kyaukpyoke village Pyu camp, Taungshay checkpoint, Ward 18, and the District Administrative Office
  • Natogyi Township: Wetlu police station, city center camp, gas pipeline site, and a military column near Zee village
  • Taungtha Township: Township entry gate, Thanoungkone Pyu camp, and gas pipeline outpost
  • Nganzun Township: Myotha bank security post and township entrance gate

During these battles, over 50 junta personnel, including Pyu militia and police forces, were killed, with many others wounded. In response, the junta launched intense airstrikes using jet fighters, Y-12s, and Mi-35 helicopters, resulting in casualties among the revolutionary forces.

Weapons and equipment seized during the operation included:

  • Firearms: 2 MA-11 rifles, 3 MA-13s, 8 MA-1s, 2 MA-2s, 2 G3s, 3 MA-3s, 2 Paratrooper rifles, 1 Carbine, 2 nine-round pistols, 1 handmade pistol, and 1 M22 handmade weapon
  • Ammunition: 43 magazines, approximately 9,000 assorted rounds
  • Explosives: 2 forward-deployed mines, 2 M9 mines, 28 rounds of 60mm shells, 9 RPG warheads, 6 RPG propellant rounds, and 15 hand grenades
  • Other: 23 pressure mines, 1 mine detector, one 8-channel jammer, one 6-channel jammer, 15 motorcycles, and 9.6 million kyat in cash, along with other military equipment.

The coordinated offensive was carried out under the supervision of the Myingyan District Military Command and led by the district commander, with participation from:

  • Myingyan District Commando
  • Infantry Battalions (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10)
  • Myingyan District Drone Unit
  • Pa Ka Pha (People’s Defense Forces) from Myingyan, Taungtha, and Nganzun Townships
  • Kyaukse District Commando
  • Pa Ka Pha from Tada-U Township
  • Infantry Battalion (3) from Meiktila District
  • Meiktila District Pa Ka Pha
  • Infantry Battalion (801) from Naypyitaw

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 3. Revolutionary Forces Regain Lost Forward Positions in Mobye Battles

In Mobye town, located at the border of Southern Shan State and Karenni region, revolutionary forces were able to recapture some forward defense positions previously abandoned during recent clashes, according to a statement released by Mobye Local PDF.

On May 23, joint forces including MB Local PDF, DMO Local PDF, KNA, and KNDF succeeded in retaking key positions within Operational Zone 2 of the local command.

While reclaiming these positions, a Mobye Local PDF fighter was injured by sniper fire from junta forces. Furthermore, the junta also indiscriminately fired heavy artillery, resulting in the destruction of several civilian homes due to fires.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 4. Revolutionary Forces Attack Salin Town Police Station, Township Administrative Office, and Linzin Police Outpost

Revolutionary forces launched coordinated attacks on the Salin Town Central Police Station, the Township Administrative Office, and the Linzin Police Outpost in Salin Township, Magway Region, during the morning hours of May 24, according to the Salin Township People’s Defense Organization (PDO).

At approximately 3:00 a.m. on May 24, an RPG-7 was used to target the main structure of the Salin Town Central Police Station. Simultaneously, junta forces stationed inside the Township Administrative Office were also attacked with a combination of heavy and light weaponry.

The exchange of fire with junta forces reportedly lasted around one and a half hours due to retaliatory gunfire from the military council troops.

According to the Salin Township PDO, two detachments of the People’s Defense Forces carried out the assault targeting police forces, and no casualties were reported among the resistance fighters.

Separately, around 1:00 a.m. on May 24, another attack was launched on the Linzin Police Outpost in Salin Township. A unit from the Salin Township PDO fired heavy weapons at the outpost, causing structural damage to the buildings.

At the time of reporting, the status of junta police or military casualties or fatalities resulting from these operations remains unconfirmed, with investigations ongoing, according to the PDO.

The Salin Township PDO added that junta forces have been conducting an offensive for 12 consecutive days across the township, torching and destroying villages. Ongoing daily clashes have erupted in response from local defense forces, who vowed to continue fighting until the terrorist military regime—which has been destroying civilian homes and violating the rights of unarmed residents—is completely eradicated.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 5. Ambush on Advancing Junta Column on Kha Chyin Mountain Results in at Least 10 Enemy Deaths

In Minhla Township, Tharyarwaddy District, Bago Region, revolutionary forces ambushed a military column from the junta advancing on foot along the main route through the mountainous terrain of Kha Chyin, located within the Bago Yoma range between Sein Kan Laint and Myo Chaung.

According to Battalion 3802, Column 5 of the Tharyarwaddy District resistance forces, the ambush occurred late at night around 11:30 p.m. on May 22, near the area between Htain Yuu Junction and Pyin Ka Toe Khin village, close to a hill known as “Chinese Cave Rock.”

Over 100 junta troops were reportedly part of the column, and a firefight lasting about one hour broke out during the ambush. The resistance forces claimed that at least 10 junta soldiers were killed and many others were wounded, forcing the remaining troops to retreat in disarray toward Ban Bwe Gone village.

At around 5:30 a.m. on May 23, a second skirmish broke out when a separate junta column came to retrieve the bodies of the fallen soldiers. The clash lasted approximately 15 minutes, during which the junta side fired heavy weapons and was eventually forced to withdraw.

Further clearing operations were conducted around 8:00 a.m. on May 24 in the vicinity of the conflict site. Resistance forces reportedly seized military supplies and discovered one junta soldier’s body discarded in a ravine, along with three shallowly buried corpses and several blood-stained sites. All recovered bodies were given proper burials, according to the report.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 6. Four Civilians Killed in Junta Attacks in Hpapun District

According to a statement by the Karen National Union (KNU), four civilians were killed and one injured due to violent assaults by junta forces involving heavy and small arms in Hpapun District, Kawthoolei Administrative Area, particularly in the Luthaw and Saw Hti townships.

On May 21, junta troops from the Thanset Base fired K3 rifles at civilians traveling near the Natsin Bridge in the Htin Kyaw Rubber Plantation area of Saw Hti Township. The attack resulted in the deaths of 54-year-old U Min Aung from Wine Kyun Village and 62-year-old Daw San Thei from Ta Pin Chaung Village. A 21-year-old man, Aung Zeya Htun, also from Ta Pin Chaung, was injured.

Additionally, on May 23, junta troops from Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 307 under the Shwe Wah Base launched two 155mm artillery shells at Matoe Kone Village in Luthaw Township. The shelling killed two more civilians—42-year-old Daw San Kyi and 75-year-old Naw Aye Shwe.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 7. Fourteen Civilians Including a Newborn Killed in Junta Airstrike on Min Kin Township

In Sagaing Region’s Min Kin Township, the military junta conducted an aerial bombardment on Tharsi-Minsu Village, located in the Taung Twin area, at around 2:30 PM on May 23, using two jet fighters. According to local sources, the attack resulted in the deaths of 14 civilians, including a newborn infant.

Among the deceased were seven children ranging from a few weeks old to ten years of age, as well as several women. In addition, 13 other civilians sustained injuries, three of whom are reported to be in critical condition.

Locals reported that the airstrike was carried out shortly after clashes broke out between junta forces based in Ma U Village and local defense forces.

There are currently 35 joint camps of the military junta and Pyu Saw Htee militia stationed throughout Min Kin Township. Due to intensified military operations, residents from 21 villages in the township have been forced to flee their homes.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ 8. Two Civilians Killed, Twelve Injured by Junta Artillery Shelling in Monywa-Amyint Road Area

In Sagaing Region’s Monywa Township, indiscriminate artillery shelling by the military junta struck Ngatwin Village in the Monywa-Amyint Road area, resulting in the deaths of two civilians and injuries to twelve others, according to local reports.

The attack occurred around 7:15 PM on May 22. A junta unit stationed at the Ma U checkpoint near the entrance of Monywa City, along the Monywa–Mandalay Expressway, reportedly fired six 120 mm mortar rounds at Ngatwin Village.

As a result of the shelling, twelve villagers were injured by shrapnel, and two of them later succumbed to their wounds. Civilian homes were also damaged in the attack. Furthermore, one cow was killed, and another was left with a broken leg.

According to a source close to the junta’s Central Command (NaMaKha), the shelling was ordered across all junta outposts in the township due to fears that local defense forces (PDFs) might disrupt a large-scale entertainment event being held in Monywa. The event featured junta-aligned performers including Khin Hlaing, Thwet Hlaik, Moe Yan, Si Si, and Nay Ye.
