May 25
Radio NUG
In Thaton Township, Mon State, a rock-carrying freight train struck a mine near Hninpale Station, between Kyunkalay and Zayatkyun villages, resulting in minor injuries to the train’s engineer, according to local sources.
The incident occurred at around 8:00 AM on May 25, when the train traveling from Thaton toward Bilin was hit by a mine blast. Six carriages of the train derailed, and over 10 feet of the railway track was destroyed.
Due to the damage, emergency repair operations are underway, and several Yangon-Mawlamyine express trains had to be reversed or suspended. Temporary suspension of services began on May 25, according to reports.
Since the military coup, freight trains and railway infrastructure between Bilin and Thaton have been targeted by mine attacks at least 10 times.
Due to frequent landmine attacks on military supply trucks and convoys along the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway, the military is reportedly using the railway to transport ammunition and reinforcements.

May 25
Radio NUG
A warrant officer named July Tun from Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 50 based in Gangaw, Magway Region, reportedly took his own life on the night of May 21, according to Yoe Alintan.
A local resident explained the context:
“July Tun used to drive for TUIC officer Yaryan Paing, whose car overturned in Pinlebu. Back when they were on good terms, they led illegal gambling and drug activities in town. But things changed after Major Myo Win Thu and others left the scene. The operations became subdued. July Tun separated from his wife, became a drug addict, and likely felt powerless without the influence he once had.”
His body was buried the same night at the Gangaw Municipal Cemetery. Since he did not die in combat, he was not granted any official military honor or recognition, according to a current SAC military strategist.
These reports were compiled and sent in by Min Sitt Thway and Khur Shel, correspondents for Radio NUG.
