According to PVTV, both male and female recruits aged between 19 and 40 attended the third batch of the weekly basic military training program conducted by Battalion 1 of the People's Defense Force (Pa Ka Pha) under the Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government in Yangon Region.

"The recruits joining Yangon Battalion 1 come from both Yangon and Ayeyarwady regions. Some joined with strong personal conviction, while others enrolled following the enforcement of the military conscription law. The participants range from young people aged 19 or 20 up to 40, and not only men—women are also involved," stated Battalion spokesperson Ye Baw Kaing.

The closing ceremony of the third weekly basic military training course was held on May 26. Due to the regional military situation, it was conducted in a compact format, Ye Baw Kaing added.

"The training course covers basic military strategy, fundamental weapons handling, physical fitness, military ethics and discipline, political orientation, and revolutionary ideology. The trainees receive both theoretical and practical instruction," explained Ye Baw Kaing.

During the closing ceremony, commanders and officers participated in saluting the national flag and collectively chanting the oath of allegiance. The Deputy Battalion Commander administered the oath to the graduates. Key figures including Unit Commander Ko Mee Pwarr, Battalion Commander Ko Ranger, Deputy Battalion Commander Ko Min Htin, and Company-2 Commander Ko Nanda each addressed the new graduates with closing speeches.

The ceremony was attended by commanders at various levels including the unit commander, battalion commander, deputy battalion commander, company commanders from Companies 1, 2, and 3, along with other relevant officials.

๐Ÿšฉ๐Ÿšฉ (2) KIA and Allied Forces Capture Strategic Outpost of SAC’s Bhamo-based Operation Command (21)

May 27

Allied forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) launched a coordinated offensive this morning (May 27) targeting several critical military positions held by the State Administration Council (SAC) in Bhamo, Kachin State, according to a Kachin military source.

As part of renewed military operations aimed at reclaiming control over Bhamo, the KIA-allied forces engaged in intense clashes and successfully seized the heavily fortified outpost belonging to Operation Command (21) under SAC's command structure.

"A fortified outpost under Operation Command 21 was cleared out this morning," a military source stated.

The fighting erupted around 4 a.m. and has remained intense throughout the day. The allied forces are reported to have seized the key defensive positions and parts of the Operation Command (21) area, according to the same source.

Despite the heavy combat, the source also noted that weather conditions in Bhamo were cloudy with occasional rain.

Additionally, with hundreds of SAC troops arriving near the urban area of Hpakant, the KIA and its allied resistance forces have issued precautionary warnings to local civilians in fields and the village of Phankhar Kone near the town’s entrance, urging them to temporarily evacuate for safety reasons.

On May 26, SAC forces advanced toward the rural areas of Yanchyet Yon, Letpyin, and Phankhar Kone, located near Hpakant. Given the high risk of imminent clashes, KIA and local resistance leaders have called on civilians to evacuate in advance to avoid harm.

“From the KIA side, the warning to evacuate was issued. Civilians in and around Letpyin were advised to move to safety. While some have done so, others have remained in their homes. With the advancing troops, clashes may erupt at any moment, so I believe it’s a preemptive safety measure,” a local resident in contact with KIA told Kachin News Group (KNG).

If SAC columns proceed further into the Hpakant urban area, inevitable direct clashes are expected, confirmed Col. Naw Bu, spokesperson for the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO), in comments to KNG.

The KIA-led allied forces have been conducting operations to reclaim control over Bhamo for nearly six months. They have successfully overrun various SAC positions, including armored units, fortifications, artillery units, and infantry outposts. Notably, on May 20, they shot down and destroyed two of the three military helicopters that had been sent as reinforcements to Operation Command (21).
